I found a UB image editor out the giant sea of opensource programs, I'll have something appropriate ready soon.
EDIT: nvm, Seashore apparently doesn't allow you to turn opaque areas into transparent ones.

Natalya, use gimp, is like photoshop but free, and very powerful if you take 10 minutes or so to watch a tutorial or two.
