2D shooter MOBA. 2 robot armies, the One's and Zero's, are having an intergalactical war but are equally matched, resulting in both armies not really getting anywhere. So instead they hire mercenaries to aid them in destroying bases on planets, said bases are used to drill up Solar (currency). I find the idea of placing one's base right next to the base of the opposing army a very questionable strategy, but whatever.

You play in teams of 3 Awesomenauts, alongside the mandatory creeps (in this case, small droids with chainsaws). Between you and the enemy base stand enemy creeps, enemy Awesomenauts and giant fuckoff turrets. With the solar you find/gain from killing stuff you can buy upgrades for your abilities. You have your standard attack, 2 speshul attacks and your jump (which usually doesn't get any kind of boost, instead serving as a slot for other important upgrades such as health n shit).

The playable characters currently include:
-A space gangsta frog, complete with bling and swagger. Attacks with a fishgun, also a stunning dash and whirlpool.
-A space cowboy, that throws dynamite and holobulls.
-A space chameleon with a french accent and a mechanical armbladething.
-A space robot which bites, explodes and loves metal.
-A space monkey with jetpack. Also, russian. Also, mines. Annoying ass space monkey.
-A space brain-in-a-bottle, with a taste for Space Evil robes. Uses small drones, and healing powers.
-A space surfboarding girl with psychoelectric powers. Specialises in attacks that can slow, knockback, and grievously injure other things.
-A space derp riding a mechanic warmachine/secretary. Fires holographic cats, and can also turn into a turret.
-A space plant/insect/dog hybrid that spits other plants and...well, spit. Has the annoying ability to poison stuff.
-A space viking with rocket farts. Voiced by Honeydew, if you are in that sort of thing.
-A space rogue with a space gun (named Cuddles) that snipes shit and plonks down time rifts.
-A space duo consisting of a space plankton and space blowfish. Partners in crime, using spike dives and smokescreens. Voiced by TotalBiscuit.

I once had 2 bots, in league 2. It went horribad, because bots tend to completely forget about survival and other teammates. I just had them destroy the base, you can't push with bots.

This trope is not literal. Just because you can define something as "in space" doesn't mean it counts. It still needs to be recycled from an older idea.

Unless you count "MOBA in space", no, not really.
