Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
Replacing poopy goblin sword with this thing, then. I clean the blood off, and try putting some of it back in. It doesn't work.

I didn't mean to heal Gerald that much.

Well done, comrades.
As a character, I'm pretty excited. I expected to die here.
As a player, I'm pretty stoked about that backstab.

So what next? Gerald has retrieved the ice person's sword, the white stone orb is still lying on the floor.

By my count, we have three of the stones here, and we know who carries the fourth. Wherefore could lead us to the fifth? I loath to admit it, but those creatures of darkness have at least one of the keys, and more knowledge on this place than we do. We have already buried the hatchet with the goblins - perhaps now is the time to come with them with an offering of..." Gerald makes a disgusted face before proceeding, "...peace."
An awkward silence hangs in the air. "No, really. We can come to them under the guise of seeking passage to the nearest town for supplies, and will pay handsomly for supplies. This will bring us closer to the next stone, and if luck favors us and the sun smiles upon our mission, they will know where we can find the next stone. Or perhaps they can tell us what they might know about this place and its purpose. I assure you that I despise working together with such filth more than any among us, but if this is what must be done to fulfill my contract, I shall honor our agreements."

"Look at our state of health. If we rest to heal ourselves, we will surely lose their track, and should they catch us stealing or going back on our agreed truce from before, we will die. If we have any hopes of catching them, we will need to hurry, and we will be in no condition for a fight."
"According to the late Ornup, their leader is Fyespon, and they were sent to this area by someone he called Queen. Could this Queen have sent them to retrieve the stones? If so, how did they not find the ones we found? We're missing pieces to the puzzle."

"Gerald does make sense. I'm not keen on treating with the little blighters, either, but I too fear that we aren't in the proper condition for battle against a force that sizable. Especially if they have allies lurking nearby. On the other hand, at the very least, treating with them may give us the distraction we need to quietly take their orb from them if they will not willingly part from it. I mean, I would normally never steal..."

I agree with this plan, but will have to stay out of sight range with the Mink so it doesn't attempt to eat them.

Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
If this is our plan (hell, even if it isn't), I plan to be moving quietly, seeking cover, and remaining as hidden as possible. If we go after the orb, I want to be in a position to steal it (or as close to as possible) if need be. If we encounter enemies, I want to be able to take them by surprise and provide flanking backstabs.
Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
Ok, so Saucix and Gerald stay in front while Gregor, Adarim, Nisos and Logan are sneak support.
You go outside to a grey day. The sun is on its way up behind the clouds. A relatively fresh gaggle of prints from goblin feet and wolf paws lead from the door and continue a few yards away... before they split up in four directions.
One set of pawprints goes northeast.
One set of pawprints goes northwest.
One set of pawprints and one set of footprints go southeast.
One set of pawprints and one set of footprints go southwest.

Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
Well...hell.
When we found Ornup, he went Northeast to get here. We must have come upon him from a westerly direction. I can't find it for sure but I remember Nisos asking Ornup why he was "this far west." Which means the goblins must've been sent by the queen to the East. Assuming the orb was of value to the Queen, my best guess is that they sent a rider with the orb Northeast. Southeast is also a possibility but they would have been slower moving with one walker and one rider.
So I'll do a quick reconnoiter in the immediate area to see if any of the goblins circled back around and look for other clues that might confirm or deny my suspicions.
