Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
You pass through the twisting streets of the city, drawing bemused glances from fairies bounding past you or fluttering overhead. You come to a point directly beneath the arch of the great palace, and the section of the street you are standing on detaches itself from the ground and floats upwards. As you travel higher and higher, you see what the red glowing object is: a huge hovering eyeball which is on fire. It moves aside to let your platform pass through a hole into the palace, and gives each of you a short but intensive stare.
The platform continues upwards through a tunnel and eventually reaches a large room, coming up through the floor. A tall and sharply featured fairy sits on a big thronelike pile of exquisite pillows, surrounded by guards, retainers and courtfairies. A giant maggot with the head of a beautiful woman is curled up on his right side, constantly whispering into his ear.
Your fairy escorts drag the shadow tiger off the platform and release it. It seems entirely tame now. One of the fairies address the one on the throne.
"Great King, Ruler of the World! Accept this gift, a beast from the World of Shadows, hunted through the Drained World!"
The King stands up and walks over to the shadow tiger. The tiger melts into his shadow, and leaps out again after a few moments. The king laughs and nods. He returns to his throne, waving the shadow tiger along, and it lays its head in his lap as he sits down again.
"These elves and humans helped us capture the beast. We told them we would take their wounds and give wings to this one." The fairy gestures at Adarim.
The King seems to consider this for a second, then nods again. Two guards step out of the room. They soon return, dragging a chained creature along. Something humanoid, but you cannot tell its race; it is entirely covered in wounds, scars and disfigurements. It screams in pain unceasingly.
"Give your wounds to the prisoner. Just lay your hand on it." your fairy escort says.

Fucking Faeries, Man. I wonder what you'll need to do to get wings.

"We'd best do as he says. No sense insulting a God." Gerald lays his hands upon the writhing prisoner.

Adarim hesitates for a moment, but does the same. He does his best not to think about it.

Saucix cringes at the prisoner, and desperately wants to help him. Thankfully he doesn't have any wounds.
"What is this thing?"

Gerald and Adarim lay their hands on the prisoner. They feel their wounds and pain fade away, as new wounds open up on the chained creature. Its screams intensify.
One of the guards answers Saucix' question.
"This being committed a terrible crime long ago, and was sentenced harshly by the monarch of that time. The crime has since been forgotten. But the punishment has not."
Will Gregor also give his wounds to the prisoner?

"Great King, I beseech you, free this prisoner. Forgive me your highness, but I respect and love the fairies. Your great cultural works are truly amazing, and I've never met a fairy I didn't like. I am an Elf Cleric of Pakkaan, and it is my duty to beg you to forgive this poor creature. I don't have much gold, but I will pay all that I have."
Saucix gets on his knees and bows to the king.

Gregor will happily transfer his wounds. He doesn't look too bothered about it.
Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
Gregor transfers his wounds to the prisoner, feeling much better as they open up on the screaming wretch.
Saucix begs to the King, who finally speaks.
"This criminal has been here a long time, and its screams are tired and tiring. I could consider punishing it with exile to the Drained World. A place suiting its boredom. But what can the elves and Päkkaan give me in return? I already have more gold than I need."

Man this is a raw deal.

"Fulfillment? I am beyond fulfillment, I strive for higher goals now. Schosan guides me there, better than your frozen god can."
Saucix recognizes Schosan from his religious studies; the chaotic god of endless pleasure.

Gerald grabs the elf by the shoulder and whispers into his ear, "Saucix, friend. Drop the matter while you can. Let's not ask for trouble, as even with my strength by your side this is a fight we could never win."

Whispers back. "You are right. There is clearly nothing I can do."
"You are right, your grace. There is nothing I can do compared to your god. I thank you for your courtesy."

The king turns his gaze away from you and makes a dismissive gesture. The guards drag off the screaming prisoner again. Another guard addresses you.
"Tomorrow the nimble human will grow his wings. Do you wish to rest until then, or partake in our pleasures of the night?"
If you want to party then state which of your six ability scores you will be using the most during the party. Partying with fairies is an intense business which will gain you experience, likely more the better your ability, but there is a risk it will deteriorate the ability score... or cause other strange things to happen.

Normally, I'd be inclined to but the whole experience has left me very wary. I'll watch, and hopefully learn something.
