The thief... a useful ally, but one who would not be missed if this is a trap... "This all sounds well friends, if you do not seek to destroy the beast then you shall not require my services. But tell me, how can we be sure to trust you with our companion? I do not mean ill-will towards you, but the life of my friend could be at risk. As you can see, we treat our friends with great respect - and can afford you the same if you can guarantee his safety."

I give Gerald a very long look. Then I turn back to the faeries and wait for a response.
In a general sense, I don't. They're fae. I do, however trust them to be fae. So, as long as we remain uninteresting to them, we should be alright. Should be.

I would trust them to not be vicious.

"The beast is a shadow tiger of the shadowland, a beautiful predator. Let us leave its prey here and step into the other room," the fairy says and gestures to the door the fairies came through. "The shadow tiger will not strike until it is alone with its victim. We will capture it as soon as it appears. You may help if it pleases you. But do not kill the tiger, and do not make it ugly!"

"Balls." I ready my weapons, just in case, and wonder what the hell happened to my real shadow.

I don't like this. We don't get anything from risking his life. We should ask for compensation first.

Now, that's an idea I can get behind.

BULLSHIT WE DON'T.Silverdream wrote:I don't like this. We don't get anything from risking his life. We should ask for compensation first.
Everything I've learned from these type of adventures says that if you can get on the good side of local dungeon inhabitants, they WILL help you one way or another. This is more of an informational compensation than anything else, but even a map or a tip in the right direction would help. We might even get them to escort us through the caves if we play our cards right.

Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
(Sorry for the delay, I was at reindeer fantasy camp.)
Everyone but Gregor goes into the room to the northeast. It has two other doors; one to the east and one to the north that seems to lead to the room with the chest.
The door closes and Gregor is left alone. His shadow reappears, slowly extending away from the light of his torch, and out of it steps a large feline beast. If Gregor knew anything about the animals of the southern jungles he would say it looks like a tiger, but with dark blue fur and silver stripes. The shadow tiger's gaze is fixed on Gregor. It bares its teeth.
What does Gregor do?

Back slowly away, preparing to defend myself and hoping to draw the tiger forward so my "friends" can flank the fucker. "Nice Kitty..."
Also, I do my very best not to piss myself.

I sit and twiddle my thumbs and wonder why we didn't plan any signal in case something goes wrong.
