Fallout 3

Might as well have its own thread.

Warning

#1. The computer creates QuickSaves that overwrite your own QuickSaves.
Most other games I've played, my quick saves are different from when the computer does it. So make full saves often.

I got totally burned by this, I did a QS then started a fight indoors just for fun. I exited the building and then the computer does a QS right over it. So those stupid actions got saved and my last full save was an hour ago. Time flies when you are exploring Megaton for the first time.

Not sure if the same QS thing happens on a console, I have the PC version.

#2. In the teddy bear factory (sewer entrance building) in the back right side of the factory area, is some rounded top thing. You can get stuck between that and the wall. Then you'll need to restart from the last save.

Loved that very special bear :)

I've read about several areas like that, where you can get stuck. Luckily I haven't had it happen to me :D

Here's a screenshot I took of my guy, when I was lingering around Megaton.

Please don't put any spoilers in here. I'm getting Fallout 3 in a couple days, and am currently on my way beating the first fallout.

Of course, getting out of Mariposa Military Base is fucking impossible. How do I get in, set the self-destruct sequence, and get out, all without force-fields going up and permenantly trapping me?

Don't worry, I won't be able to spoil much for I haven't finished the first story mission (asides from leaving the Vault).

People call it Oblivion with guns, but personally I think it has a completely different feel. It's got a nice bit of character customization, my guy looks like Gordon Freeman when he's wearing his glasses, and when he takes them off he looks like My Little Ponies! Does this mean that Gordon Freeman is My Little Ponies? Anyway, to get back on topic, I believe that Fallout 3 is actually a cleverly disguised game of Brikwars, be sure to get the 'bloody mess' perk and use a shotgun and you'll see what I mean.

I had a nice one of some mutilated bodies being hung on hooks, but I lost it.
Don't worry, though, I'm going to go back there and find them again.

EDIT: Found it. For these couple shots, I put the settings at absolute max, and my game turned into a stuttering mess. I also have links to high-resolution versions of each picture.

I took a close-up picture, but the program I was using didn't capture it

My character taking a rest, with part of Downtown visible behind him (try to ignore the obnoxious cursor in the middle). It was only when I took this picture that I realized my guy looks kind of ugly.

Standing triumphantly over my kill. I took a picture from the other side but again, the program didn't quite catch it. I didn't notice until after that there was a bloody, beaten kid on the ground behind me.

Thank you. I had just picked it up in that dungeon, so I had hardly any ammo and I stuck with my usual Laser Pistol.

Also, yes, it's only for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Okay, I started and i like... JUST stepped out of the vault.

how in gods name do I use V.A.T.S? I'm using the PS3 version, and it keeps saying "Push R2 to turn on V.A.T.S." but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

This may sound stupid, buta re you actually aiming directly at someone? I find that there has to be a target realitvely close to you and within your view in order to go into V.A.T.S.
If and when you get to Megaton, that would be good place to practice, because the if you target people they won't go hostile as long as you don't shoot.

Also, some more pictures.

My first duel against a minigun wielding dude.

I ended up blowing him apart with Grenades <3

I took this picture moments after a sniped a guy that was almost out of my sight.

Trying out my minigun. As you can see from the guy in the corner, everyone fled from the intimidating power of my minigun.

I ran into a bandit hideout, and they all had assault rifles. I ran out of ammo, so I fled.

Even amidst the liberation of a direlect bridge-top village, nothing is more important than a nice bathroom break.

As part of a quest, I was supposed to bring a message to these poor bastards from a long lost relative. How do I explain this?

A word of warning: Finishing the game's main storyline ends the game. Do not start the quest "Take it back!" unless you're ready to end the game.

What's the name of the quest that comes before that one, so that we can know to make alternate saves?

I won't have to worry about this for a while, seeing as how I haven't finished the first Story mission :P
