BrikWars - the video game

Postby Arkbrik » Tue Jun 29, 2010 9:44 am

Not quite as universal as that other game by that other guy, but a thrilling tale of life, death, good, and evil. Sort of.

Get it here.

Hope you like it. If you have any criticism, praise, hate, or bug reports, let me know.

Here's a list of stuff to add in future versions. If you have any more ideas, post them!

MORE UNIT TYPES - In progress
Archers, knights, catapults... plenty of things can be added.

MORE ENEMIES - In progress
Who knows what will threaten Briktopia next time...

BETTER AI - In progress
Right now the enemies just move randomly. When non-dimmy enemies are added, they will be smarter.

SMOOTHER SELECTION - Complete
Making selection and deselection of units simpler.

COMBINED ATTACKING
Letting several units attack the same enemy.

COMBINED MOVEMENT
Letting several units move at once.

ARMY GENERATION
Customize your own army by buying units with CP.

HIDDEN FUN STUFF
No game is complete without it.

Remus: Harry... I'm a werewolf.
Harry: Are you fucking serious?
Remus: Well yes, but I don't see how that applies here.

It's safe, didn't crash my computer at least. I made this with Game Maker in Windows, but Game Maker works on a Mac so the game should too.

Arkbrik, to say the least, this game has potential. Add army generation and squad tatctics and we could call it good. Excellent job mate.

I'd also like it if there were ranged weapons, but whatevs. This is awesome.

Hmm, army generation could be done and ranged weapons wouldn't be hard to add. Ross, what kind of squad tactics did you have in mind?

More different types of enemies would also be nice.

The storyline will continue in future games, and now that the Dimmies are defeated some other enemy should arise. I'm open to suggestions.

Pressing shift to select multiple guys. Mainly to attack targets when all of them are adjacent to said target. If there's any way to select all a number and move all selected at once, that would be good as well.

I agree with everything you NEED to add to make this game awesomer!

Its pretty good so far, yet I found a bug, when I want to deselect a selected unit to attack the only way to do that is by selecting another unit, and when other units can't attack or move anymore you get kinda stuck know what I mean?

But keep it up, this might turn up something great! :)

Nice. I know how hard it is to use Gamemaker. I go to a Cpu camp yearly and one of the courses is pretty much learning to use it.

Yeah, it's difficult but very versatile. My first few games all got stuck on some bug that I couldn't figure out how to fix. But once the foundation of the game is done it's easy to add more stuff.
