Pocket Dungeon

For all those games that happen to not be BrikWars

Well, I had the basic idea that everyone starts in a different place and play proceeds as normal. If they meet up, everything in a room starts multiplying [size, monsters, doors, and treasure].

I'd be okay with running two games, I guess, if that's what the player base wishes. Don't really want to leave anyone out at all.

Alternatively, someone else could also run a game (you can feel free to use my sprites, or use your own method, whatever). For clarification, kidko reserved a spot far ahead of everyone here, so he's guaranteed a spot in my first one, the rest of you can figure out who-goes-where provided we have a second game to distribute to (more than four players to a Dungeon would get tedious really fast).

Alright then, that can be arranged...

Robot and forlorn, would you like to join another game with me? We would then only require one more player

Heck, I might play in yours, BF, if you don't find someone else.

I leave the spot open for now, of course, but if you guys give me a holler I'd be more than happy to join you guys if you feel you've waited long enough.

Sure, why not? Fine for me. You think you can keep track of two games?

I mean, I'm only managing one of them, so yeah, totally. Being a player is a much easier workload, haha.

P.S. The screen is going to be really big, but hopefully I fit all of the absolutely necessary info on it.

Hey, Thade, I notice you don't have a spot. Do you want my spot in BFenix's game? I'm happy to cede it to you, if you're interested :)

thanks, but I'm too busy to reliably post orders, and I'm still trying to figure out the rules just so I can program it.

Hah! Fair enough.

Speaking of which, I may as well post this now: BFenix and I have started vaguely working on a "world map" for a Brikwars-wide PD setting called Aerona, so that DMs can put places on the map for other DMs to use.

Just gettin' the word out, more on that later.

That looks awesome! Will you take up my idea of the players not being showed where they are overall? I figured that would be much more dungeon-like and realistic.

My grid WIP:

Since I decided that getting the wires going around the floor sort of look was gonna be far too many tiles for all the directions, I decided to go for a Tron sort of look since the gameplay would be based on that.

EDIT:

thade wrote:It's not flash, but I've been meaning to try something like this, so I've begun messing with dungeon generators in GML. Still a couple glitches, but it's going well.

It asks for a number of rooms, then picks a number of tiles based off the table in the manual, and draws them randomly. It should repeat this until it uses all the rooms. The doors may be tricky, and the boss room might as well.

Can you make it so that the rooms only appear to you when you enter them, or only generate when you enter them? Or for that matter, have you introduced a moving player yet? Have you got any screen shots? I imagine the problem with dungeon generation is getting the right art for the walls.
