Space Hulk

Anyone knows this one? GWS Terminators VS Genestealers board game? I've been hearing about it since 2nd edition but I think the 3rd edition really brought it back to life!

Nice artwork uh? The older one is also nice, nostalgic.
So what is a space hulk? At first I thought it was a nickname for the Terminators, you know, big armored fellas and all, but I was wrong. The term "Space Hulk", from which the game gets its name, is used within the WH40K universe for any masses of ancient, derelict starships, asteroids, and other assorted space junk drifting in and out of the Warp that eventually merges into one massive form, containing its own atmosphere and gravity, ranging from the size of a small moon to a large planet, which drift through the territory of the Imperium. Because a hulk may contain bits of lost information or technology, or hostile life forms that pose a threat to mankind, the Imperium often sends teams to search for and secure these entities. The hulk may not stay in real space for very long, eventually slipping back into the Warp, so retrieval operations must be rapid and efficient.

Genestealers often make homes of these hulks, creating Hives and attacking those who come aboard in order to spread their genetic code further afield. The game pits an investigative force of Space Marine Terminators to get the job done.

Anyways, the game looks like this:

Yet, a company named Teardown remade the SH game in a great pixel EA and GWS approved turned based video game. The game in both formats is simple yet it has lots of strategy and loads of fun!

I wish the new edition of it had catered to older fans of the game more. (I'm not one of them, by the way.) In a way it did, but it was obviously more of a way to get the kiddies to buy it. The models in it were far too model-ish and enough like gamepieces I think.

That being said, I played a round of this game at Games Day one year, it was some nice fun.

Space Hulk is the best game Games Workshop ever made.

Hands down a great game.

Had the original plus all the add on box sets. Killed many a Gene Stealer in my day.
