He's relatively weak, and on a ship filled with trigger happy space marines. He has a pistol. He is not opening that door by force.

So basically, RM is NOT Isaac Clarke? Alright then, Mash buttons till something happens.

We clearly see IC differently. I see him (originally) as an engineer who knew how to make anything on hand into a weapon. I highly doubt Isaac could have gotten through a reinforced door with a pistol, seeming as he couldn't use one to get through a makeshift barricade.
