Fabletop - Tales of a Rogue Party

There's a new online game system beta out, which is essentially Infrno Lite with built in, pick-up-and-play rules.

Don't be fooled. It is incredibly versatile, much like Roll To Dodge. I recruited a few Brikwarriors to investigate this game and they landed on my table and immediately fell to bickering and lighting things on fire, as it should be. We had Keldoclock, the Old Spider Farmer, MGB, the Suave Rogue, BFenix, the Northern Warrior, and Matt, the Drunken Lout with a Dagger. After a riotous introduction in the town square of Kaston, the crew decided that a party was in order- before smoke was spotted to the west. Keldo's farm was going up in flames! All of his silk, his spiders- on fire! He hastily gathered the rest- dragging Matt away from the barkeep and his sodden alcohol- and rushed to the rescue. Hooded figures brandishing torches were at the site, fighting the largest of his spider flock. The party immediately joined in, as was their wont. After a hard-fought battle, where several things caught on fire and were horribly murdered, the crew emerged victorious, although at the loss of all but one of Keldo's spiders. Having regaled the villagers with the tale of their battle with the horrible Salzar lizardmen (although nobody knows who put out the fire), Keldo declared that, bereft of farm or flock, he would ride his prize spider, Steve, as a wandering adventurer to put an end to the Salzar threat, once and for all.

Apparently they rather liked it, so we're going to do it again at some point. Dunno when, any suggestions, mates?

Next week?

Hell of time with this one! Surprised such a small and simple system opened to us such a wide window into Role Playing, before the party was even together we already found ourselves creating background stories and lore! Not mentioning it's still in Beta, so we might have some power in the future of the game.

It reminds me of a very rules-lite Shadowrun. Tons of fun, really feels like classic, classic pulp fantasy, back in the days of Gygax and Chainmail and 1st Edition and so on.

I'm up for whenever, late morning or early afternoon tomorrow(today? I mean Saturday the 31st) would be ideal, but sometime during the normal weeks following New Years would also be totally fine.

The Salzaar shall taste the lance of James, weird penis Extraordinare!

How old are you?

Yes I played those two.

Does it matter? I'm nearly 18 and also played them both.

Well I'm surprised Chainmail was still available in the 90's.
With all the other options that had more complete designs, I'm also surprised anyone would bother with it.

15. :csi:

On a slightly more serious note, I haven't played either, although I know my D&D history and have tried a few of the recent 0E clones. I honestly prefer Pathfinder, but they are fun too, particularly for more zany adventures.

I remember my days of highly improvised and poorly understood AD&D. The best way to describe our games was "fucktarded". Oh my god type that sometime and laugh at spell check.

Should have posted yesterday, but you know how I am with schedules... If anybody's interested, I'll be willing to host a game tonight in an hour or so.

Awesome. Now share the link to your table again because I can't get to it.

Goddammit, maybe more than an hour. Why does the most convenient meal possible - pizza - take the longest time to get around to in this house, anyway?
