If I'm not mistaken, a Tulpa is an apparition that is simply the manifestation of intense and often repetitive human thought or action. One of the most famous Tulpas is one that inhabits the house of a former writer. The writer wrote a long series of pulp fiction novels about a character named, "The Shadow." The Shadow was a detective-type who stalked around in dark clothing, solving crimes and beating up bad-guys like a 1940's-50's Batman. So basically, people who live in the house often see such a figure stalking the halls, running around corners just as he comes into view, and doing other pulp fiction detective things. This person never really existed, and so it is believed to be the manifestation of the author's thoughts.

I believe the idea comes from India, where they once believed that spirits can be produced or manifested by intense thought on a subject. It probably comes from the common eastern philosophical idea of repetitive thought being a sort of "sickness."

Yeah, an imaginary friend that others can see, and that you think or thought about obsessively.

I do NOT want to live in a world with 30,000 or so Tulpa Master Chiefs running around thanks to 13-year-olds.
