Don't forget the other big advantage of a shotgun: when you have to stop to reload, the butt of a shotgun is a much handier bludgeon than any handgun, because you get that extra foot or two of swing range that may mean the difference between getting a zombie bite or escaping unscathed.

huh. hadn't even considered that.
also, crazyhorse, blowing legs off is about equivalent to shooting yourself in the forehead. if there's lots of them, chances are you're not in an open area with clear ground. you may be in a cramped building, or even worse, an open field with tall grass. if you blow the legs off, and forget about even ONE zombie, it WILL come back and find you.

Honestly, i chose minigun, or a flamethrower.

I Already said that:
*CRAZYHORSE* wrote:(ofcourse they would slowly croutch towards you so it isn't a perfect plan for big croudes of them)
and the minigun I don't know, in open space it's one of the best but as soon as you get driven in a room or so the thing aint handy "kinda big" and also verry heavy if you have to run and what about when you have to reload that takes sometime. And for the flamethrower It's great if you really want to get rid of them because they burn to ashes so they are completely useless but It's also heavy and big like the minigun adn it also "but less" takes some time to relaod it and the zombies whould still run up to you even when they are on fire so they could put you on fire or still bite you, so it takes a lottle while until the effect has use. I think the best solition is a bunch of hand grenades but that probally has it's down side to I think.
Edit: and what about a tank I don't see a down side there accept the fuel.

i wholeheartedly disagree. minigun's gonna suffer from the same problem as blowing off legs, and flamethrowers make these situations a thousand times worse. zombies do not feel pain, so if you were to light one, it would continue to shamble your direction, moaning, and on fire. it could potentially last a few hours this way. not only will the zombie burn you if it grabs ahold of you, but if it even walks NEAR a building, bush, oil can, or anything flammable, you've got a serious fire to deal with ON TOP OF zombies.

looks like you're familiar with the Zombie Survival Guide. The best firearm to use would be a bolt action rifle or possibly a silenced handgun. The absolute best weapon to use against zombies is a machete because it kills very effectively, anyone can use/clean it, it doesn't run out of ammo, and has like a million alternate uses, not to mention it's light and portable.
Katanas are equally effective.

I have always been fond of the lawnmower-strapped-to-the-chest method.

How about Sawn-Off shotguns? Compressed air guns? Paintball guns?

pesgores, that's a no, yes, no, in that order. if using compressed air, you're going to need to hit precise soft head targets to actually hit the brain, like eyes and temples.
"best" is an arguable term. personally, i'd go with a trench shovel. nice blade, and hey! free shovel! i can dig things!

I'm sure you could kill a Zombie with a towel if you tried hard enough.

Would it be possible to suffocate a zombie? I mean, I'm sure they wouldn't know what the hell is going, but I imagine that basic organ system is still there and functioning.

wrong. this is the living dead we're talking about. every body system has stopped functioning save one - the brain. while humans need bodies to help regulate their system and protect their brains, zombies merely have a brain that functions completely on it's own, with no need for help from lungs, hearts, etc. this is why only a headshot can kill a zombie, and why even the head of a headless zombie is still dangerous.

Would you like to have your rank changed to
Zombie Lore Master
or perhaps
Zombie Historian, Zombiphile, Zombastic (zombie + bombastic), Zombie Regulator.

but.. you could even argue wetter or not a headshot will even help against a zombie, and if it really needs said brain.
Act first, then think, then try to find a way to cover up the horrible mess you made.
