I'M BAACK! After unpacking my stuff and reassembling the battlefield (which was destroyed by my little brother while I was away) I finally got around to restarting the game.
The Pirates win the ground battle by, predictably, a single minifig. In other news, the space battle becomes a close race between Raptor Squadron and the pirates guarding the freighter.
The fighters change course to pursue the escaping freighter and its pirate escort.
The defense frigate slows its headlong rush towards the edge of the map. It's well into the jump zone.
The Republic boarding frigate attacks and deals two points of damage to the Hellfury with a lucky string of critical successes.
The freighter drifts along, pilotless. It's now at the very edge of the jump zone.
The Tiger Shark drifts along beside it. The freighter is within the defense field but the Tiger Shark is not.
The Hellfury tries to ram one of the fighters, but it jinks aside.
Overview. The Republic frigate has pretty much given up its chance of catching the freighter, but the fighters and bombers will have two more turns to strafe it before it can make the jump and win the game for the pirate forces.

Captain Cutlass jumps down from the wrecked vehicle and lands behind the Coalition troops. ARRRRRRRRRR!
*CHOP*
*CHOP* the Coalition boarding party is dead. The Coalition ships may now attempt to destroy the freighter.
He uses the rest of his move to head towards the captain's chair, but can't quite make it. He will be able to reach the captain's chair by the end of the next turn, and by the beginning of the turn after that (turn 9) the freighter will be able to jump.
Overview. 18 minifigs, including the captain, were killed in the battle for the freighter.
