Why factions

Have you noticed that ever since I did my n00bish forum battle armies are referred to now as factions. This bugs me as
1 - I appear to have started a trend.
2 - I only meant it for small armies, 15 average number of troops

Please explain why this has happened

The terms are interchangable in this example, it doesn't really matter.

Well it just appears like since my forumbattle people refer to armys as factions. Oh well. The best example was after my red faction shaeph had an army of red black rebels who were called a faction.

No, I called the teams in the first Forum Battleever factions. You can check it out. I started the..."trend".

Really? In that case this thread is over. Although shaephs guys are all too similar. My red faction are gone now though. They weren't too good

Faction typically refers to a combined political party, group of people, and military of some sort -- or representatives (diplomatic or military) thereof. So, faction is a pretty good word for this sort of thing.

Actually, I chose the term "faction" when everybody else was using "team" because I hated the use of "team" for a military group.

Remember: Brikwars is not necessarily about teamwork;
Although there are sqauds, only because officers get promoted to command them.

the reason we use faction is because 3 mean can't be an army and 1 man can't be a team
