- FORWARD MARCH CLASS COLONISATION VESSEL -

500 years ago, the Scythian's discovered the great super dreadnought embedded in their planets second moon of blade, the technologies within this mighty craft where adopted and then advanced to a point of being even more powerful and advanced than the original craft.

However, during the first two centuries of colonisation - this technology was still new, untamed - Scythian ships where huge compared to their modern counterparts due to a lack of miniaturisation in parts or space based production facilities. Most Scythian vessels at the time where constructed in the home system of Scythia from lunar based facilities, and then later asteroid bases within the systems resource wealthy asteroid belt. Eventually Rigel Kentaurus shipyards where built and these older bases where decommissioned.

One of the greatest products of these bases was the "Forward March" class of colony vessels - built before the technology responsible for artificial gravity was reverse engineered, it featured a spinning mid section for colonists during their long journeys on older FTL drives (which had considerably shorter jump distances and longer charge times compared to modern spooled drives) - their anti matter reactors where huge and inefficient, and thier sub light engines slow.

These craft however, paved the way for the modern empire - these ships where capable of carrying, and building everything a young colony would need - acting as transportation and mobile factory's for hundreds of worlds in the empire.

They would eventually be modernised to include artificial gravity (loosing the vast tonnage of the spinning section) and miniaturisation would eventually cut down the size of these vessels by half their size - but the original design is still somewhat of an icon throughout the Empire.

In their total lifetime, over 60 of these ships where built, and all but four of them are still around today as museum ships.

Out of the four that are not intact today, 2 where lost due to catastrophic drive failure. The "Magellan" managed a complete evacuation of both colonists and crew, the "Athenia" only managed to evacuate half of the colonists aboard, all hands of the ship crew where lost.

The "Harvest Bounty" was lost in a freak incident with a solar flare whilst surveying a Trinary star cluster, which caused its shielding to fail. The ship is intact, but its crew died instantly. Salvage is impossible, and the ship has been re-classified as a memorial and mausoleum ship

The remaining ship, "Life Bringer" initiated FTL from Rigel Kentaurus shipyards, and was never seen again - a complete investigation was launched, and no problems where found in any ship systems, specifically the engines, navigational or main computer cores. The jump co-ordinates set into the jump drive where unchanged. No external influence could be found, and the incident is completely unexplained. The Life Bringer has been missing for 159 years, and is now somewhat of a legend throughout the Empire.

Yes, they can - but with modern miniaturised parts - why bother building something huge, when you can build something a third smaller than the enemies craft, and still pack the same capabilities?

Although - Imagine a warship THAT size, using modern parts and capabilities . . . and you get the general idea of what the Scythian Super Dreadnaught is going to be like. :P :lol:

This vessel was found at the outer most edge of the Rigel Kentaurus shipyards at 23.06.20192 (Scythian time/date stamp) after drifting aimlessly into the system.

The Rigel Kentaurus defence fleet jumped to the vessel and instantly ordered it to power down its engines and identify itself, all attempts at communication where returned with a "Code 9" response - typically used as a non-response code by Scythian special forces groups. However - this code was transmitted in more wavelengths than Scythian forces currently use, including the currently theoretical use of Tachyon and cross-dimensional particle transmission.

After a tense stand off between the vessel and the defence fleet, a cursory scan was returned with data regarding the ship itself, plated in armour that was a tenth of the regular ship battle plate, but with almost 5 times the density and strength, it included as of yet untested ablative and kinetic layers, and shielding built into the armour itself, rather than an externally projected shield. Due to an EMP-like effect built into the armour (which still cannot be explained) no further data could be collected from the vessel.

Eventually, a team was put together to board the vessel - and the hull was breached.

Within the ship, there was no immediate evidence of a crew of any type, the air within the ship had been long stagnant and many systems where off-line.

Eventually the ship was secured, and many mysteries became apparent.

The ships main data log was programmed in a computer language completely unknown to all Scythian comparisons, and corrupted beyond all recognition, what little we have managed to glean - is that the vessel was an armed research and survey ship within the 19th pan-galactic (Indicating that Scythian forces had expanded beyond this galaxy) and was involved in some form of mass-fleet action against the Immortals in another galaxy.

While exact dating is impossible, this is theorised to be between 25 and 60 standard Scythian years from now.

The lack of crew was explained through basic forensic testing, which found that DNA traces and several layers of dust throughout the ship where found to be the remains of the crew after an approximate 17000 years of decomposition within the ship.

This date was again confirmed through carbon and radio-isotope testing throughout the ship.

The only explanation is that at some point during our future, this ship will be built, and then lost through unknown means - and then somehow travel back into our current time line to be discovered at the edge of the Rigel Kentaurus system.

The Scythian Office of Naval Intelligence has taken over the research into project Over-arch and all information regarding it has been filed under the kingunderthemountain operational code name.

The backstory echoes Event Horizon in some ways and the ship appearance seems to be a nod in that direction as well.

I was going for a rough cross between Event Horizon, Sphere - and a few other bits and pieces I can't remember off hand.

Basically - Kingunderthemuntain is the Scythian "folder" for all kinds of weird shit, it just depends on what that weird shit is - at the moment, there is a lot of time travel (accidental and on purpose) going on, and at least 2 time lines at work . . . its just the how and the why that I'm messing around with at the moment.

SCYTHIA NEWS! BRINGING THE GALAXY! TO YOU!



Earlier today, Scythian military forces mobilised to the distant Colony world of Von Haust 3, a developing Scythian colony world on the outer most edge of the Scythian western sector after reports that the colony had been attacked.

Expecting an Immortal force to be awaiting them on arrival, almost half of the Rigel Kentaurus 4th fleet (including over 20 battleships, 16 carriers, 40 destroyers, 60 cruisers and 120 frigates) was dispatched to meet the immortal threat face on for the first time since Fico.

Upon arrival however, the entire system had been laid waste to by an unknown foe - and after hours of searching through wrecked ships and ground side craters - only glimpses of the assailants could be discovered.

This ship, a little smaller than most battleships - arrived in the Von Haust system through an unknown means of FTL (Faster than light) travel, and opened communications.

The alien race identified themselves as the "Shraag" and stated that the Scythian empire had set foot onto holy ground, demanded an immediate surrender with all Scythian forces over an open comm-link.

The audio section of this communication was recovered perfectly, however the accompanied visual information was garbled and filled with errors - what little we can assume of this moment, is that we are dealing with a non-minifig race.

The Scythians refused the terms of surrender - and the defence fleet (a mere picket of 4 battleships, 1 carrier, 10 destroyers and 30 frigates) opened fire on the alien vessel. The alien vessel evaded every single shot fired through sudden use of its FTL-system, and then called in re-enforcements of another 5 of similar classed ships.

These vessels then proceeded to lay waste to the entire defence fleet through the use of an unseen weapon system - no presumed to be some form of Meson bolt weapon that makes use of highly advanced rail guns and dimensional weaponry to fire directly through ships and rip them to shreds.

The most disturbing aspect of the Shraag ships was their defensive systems, which through an unknown method, bent space-time around the ships, causing a "space dilation" effect - to put it as simply as possible - these ships are capable of breaking the laws of physics, and bending light around them as their defensive mechanism.

Unprepared for such devastating weapon systems, the entire Scythian force fell, and the Shraag then proceeded to lay waste to the colony with thier Meson bolt weaponry - the effects of which are still being felt on a planetary level.

As of this moment - All Scythian ships are instructed to avoid confrontation with any vessel that identifies itself being of Shraag origin, and await further instructions, lest we have another galactic war on our hands.
