17thCMEF Dreadnought

Post by halo 3000 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 9:29 pm

A crippled warrior is a sad sight indeed, but a little less sad when they are able to kick some ass!

Image

I have always loved the dreadnought. It's probably my favorite thing about 40k.

Image

I came up with the idea of the leg design in my math class, so I drew a picture of it so I would remember it later.

Image

Originally, I wanted a assault cannon and a power fist, but I got lazy last night and just wanted to finish it. I ended up going with the rocket launcher. I might make a power fist later.

Image

Good view of the legs. feel free to copy this.

Image

The Assault Cannon! My favorite part. I copied it from this;

Image

Actually, I copied a bunch of stuff from this guy. I just scaled it down. Check out his brickshelf http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=293606

Image

The back. I'm not done with it. Just had to rush to build it so I could take pictures before I went to my grandparents today.

Image

here it is without the arms. I like how it fits together.

Image

I could build more of these if I wanted. Two Assault Cannons would be cool...

Just for fun, here is a dreadnought I built in 2009

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=390659

its too big to embed it, so I just posted the link to the gallery.

Hope you guys like it!

Nice! Can you fit a fig in it?

No, I wish I could. It's hard to make it be able to house a fig, or even half a fig since the fig is crippled.

How did you attach the ammo belt to the arm? And the front armor plates together?

Fantastic! That right arm gun looks totally fucking rad, too.
Unrelated note: I was cruising around your brickshelf gallery that you provided in the post, when I found...

Looks good! Reminds me a bit of Natalya's dread. I'd suggest building a powerfist, they always round out a dread a bit more.

I agree. My favorite part of dawn of war 2 was the dreadnought smashing his fist into the ground causing a shockwave that sent enemy troops flying.

Looking forward to that power fist.

I actually have dready in progress that uses that guys power fist. I hope you don't mind my asking, could you possibly put up instructions, for the legs/hips at least? Because I also was trying to copy that guy, and i failed miserably. Or at least some of the techniques.
Ask now what I'm doing, even for me :mystery:

Sure! The legs aren't hard to build. you have to cut some stuff though. nothing major, just a rod. make note that my dreadnought and his are not the same scale. also, could you post a picture of your powerfist?

@Halo: I love your stuff but *ouch* cutting lego pieces? I would respect your creations like 10x more if you just tried to work with unaltered pieces. Which isn't to say they're not awesome already, they could just be even more awesome if you didn't resort to lego heresy.

You can argue with his methods, but he sure gets good results. :)
