3D Printed (Lego) Guns

Postby BrickArmed » Mon Aug 18, 2014 7:04 am

DISCLAIMER: I has no idea if this is the right section or not
Anyway, I've been toying with the idea of 3D printing Lego weapons, and this idea has finally come into fruition! I started with spears, but then that (somehow) got me thinking about rocket launchers. So, here is a 3D printed rocket launcher

This is bare-bones, no detail, but that will be fixed soon.
Next is the strange PDW that grew into an assault rifle, with 4 revisions, this took a while...
The first version has no stock, or details

(Look ma, no left hand!)
Second version, with a stock a bit too tall

Third version, with stock too wide

And finally, the fourth revision, with a perfect (enough) stock

(Sorry for blurry)
Also, IK that there are no scopes... Long story...

Anyway, suggestions on what to do next, comments, questions, and criticism are appreciated!

I have achieved the next milestone... The Stud!
I was able to get a working stud onto a machine gun! It can be attached to stuff, like normal lego!

These look pretty cool, but I think you should use a nail file or sandpaper to make it smoother looking.

No offense intended but I think it looks awful. Perhaps you can shave it down some and smooth it out, but it looks like someone took a magnifying glass to it.

It might be an issue with the printer itself. Many 3-D printers don't have the capability to print finely detailed objects.

3D Printed stuff always ends up a little rough and grainy so cannot fault that. This thread would be more suitable in 'Bricks' though.

How would I get it moved? Do I contact the mods, or is there a giant button that i'm missing?

I have determined several things;
6. Yes, the nail file was MUCH NEEDED, thanks!
7. My modelling skills are still improving, detail is pretty hard for me and i'm still getting to know my printer.
8. Same can be said with my photography skills. Never mind the fact that I have something bad on something light grey in front of to windows.

Everything after the rocket launcher is.

EDIT
When I get black ABS, things will probably look better. And my printer uses ABS :D

I think Sycthe or Natalya could move it over there. I'm not sure I have access to do so (or maybe I do but I'm a dumb shit and cannot figure out how).

This topic is fitting for the Armoury because it is about guns.
