They do accept 1x1 stud just like the joystick piece, except they do not have the joystick "slice" in the top. But they are ONLY available in transparent colors, which may reduce their appeal.

nah. transparent is always cooler, just like how carriers = instant win

EDIT: actually, i'd like to replace a rocket system that i have on one of my creations with something similar to this. i'm planning something smaller too, with just 6 rockets per pod-system. how would you recommend i build something like this?
