The royals are the rulers of the kingdom. As a military unit they are known as 'the Bloodguard', made up from the many sons and daughters of the King. They form the vanguard of his realm. They all have the same red hair, a sign of royalty in the Kingdom of Shadowtops. It hasn't occured yet that they fight as a unit though, as they are most often scattered across the Kingdom's feudal states, each Bloodguard possessing the right to give command.
The right of the column. You can see the King to the left, and the Grand Marshal to the right. The Grand Marshal is the most badass of them all and thus granted that equipment and helmet, but he needs a helmet his visor fits better on (one of those older ones I presume
The left of the column, with my favourite unit; the king's daughters, who all wield zwei hander. They are the only 'good' torsos I put armour over (I try to avoid that 'cos I think it's a shame when you have a bunch of otherwise useless ones lying about), but I couldn't find any other use for my silver armour. The guy with the eye patch to the right isn't a son of the King, but his brother and lord of the Bloodguard and the Kingdom, second only to the King.
I wanted to make a faction who all had red hair, but while I do have a lot of them I of course don't have enough red-headed figs for an entire army, so I made them royals because the King was red-haired anyway. He's my first castle fig ever, btw. They have 'one' royal soldier who I didn't think was really worth showing, their ranks still need expanding :s
I cleaned up a bit and kept finding minifig parts and tried to use them all to the best effect so here's some updated pics from my other factions:
The Bulls, with a new Bullbeast fig, two new leaders, three new heavies, another phalanx leader, three cannons, and with their ranks slightly expanded and several fig's appearance changed. Yeah, I'm working on 'em.
Somethings wrong with this pic :s However I used some faces and torsos I didn't find a use for on the first go on my 'skeleton warlocks', who are now known as 'wraiths' instead. It freed up some heads for the expanding skellie army
... who's squad leaders now have more evil faces and other hats, as well. In the background you can see the guardian, who is now an imperial trooper :s
Some baddies you hadn't seen yet. About half of them are 'IWC' (Intergalatic War Clan, my modern army) characters, but most of them have a double role so they can participate in medieval fantasy slaughters as well
Updated pic on the Dwellers:
And the Wolfpack's new leader, who didn'tfit on the first pic.
The imperials hardly changed but for the colour of their leader's helmets, and a new bannier carrier was also 'elected':
The armies of Kerrat can hardly be called that yet, I still need a lot more stuff (mostly armour to cover the not very castle-like torsos) for them, but the idea is that they have three knight's classes (based on black falcons, dragon masters and fright knights) each with two unique banner carriers per unit, and one leader and sorceror each, so they can be used in nice small battles as well as large ones when you put them together, the same as my royalists really. Garth and Xalen in the back don't really belong to them anymore, but heck
Dragon knights, supposed to become pikemen like the Bulls are. The bats are just regular heavy swordsmen battalions, just like the eagles.
They are closest to being finished and their leader and mage already are, but I still need a lot moar armour and shields. See the abandoned black falcon body? It's supposed to be the start of a 12-man archer / crossbowmen battalion
Some guys and parts just don't fit in whatever you try. Timmy, the evil supervisor of the spare parts, has decided to start a rebellion to claim more rights for the spare parts brigade. His rebellion hasn't had much success yet because most of his 'troops' are handicapped and anything deemed useful about them is quickly shipped towards the 'real' armies. However, these guys are simply screaming for customization, but I'm still looking for ideas, and good, fitting custom torso's.
That's most of my figs, but I forgot / didn't take pictures of my pistol unit and hitokiri. They too, still need some stuff, though all but 2 figs are at least no lacking any body parts.
And what's this? A battlefield? Am I perhaps finally up to something, or will school stop my efforts once more?
Yeah, I'm still working on a bunch of things but I have hobbies / doings outside of BW still and don't always have the money / time ... things are moving in the right direction even if it's happening slowly, though.
