Dwarf fortress: the FPS

Minecraft is a FPRPG in which you spend your days running around murdering trees with your hands and butchering farm animals, and your nights hiding in a hole hoping the giant green penises (no joke) don't get you. its etremely win and im suprised noone else has found it.

Id love to see what your doing in minecraft, I recently discovered the saddle, and rode a pig off a cliff into lava. if that isn't win I don't know what is.

I've also downloaded Fort Zero,which is rather nice, and I've got a basic dug-in in another world.

The base has expanded a bit since time of screenshots. I've got an expansion process:

1. Find area you want to colonize
2. Mark it somehow. Torches or strange structures work well, I use 1x5 pillars with 4 torches on em.
3: Cover the entire fucking area with torches. Don't let there be a single spot of darkness remaining.
4: While doing #3, create 4x4x6 huts with torches on top and a ladder+workshop inside, kinda like guard towers (I'll throw a screenie your way soon)
6: Build.


My own legit map is doin well, I make sure to plant a tree every so often and have a cobblestone factory and irrigated farm so I'm pretty solid for all of that. tracks will eventually cover all of the settlements, but although I have shitloads of iron(2 stacks of iron blocks. Not bars, but BLOCKS) from the awesome cavern under my home, I'd rather have em planned out before laying them down everywhere, I'm pretty bad with building those.

Wandering back and forth between my friends' forts on the office multiplayer server, I kept getting lost. So I built this lighthouse to help myself out. It's tall but not ridiculously so; the last image is the view from the top. The interior structure is entirely glass so that sunlight comes down to the gardens inside.

Normally there are boats in that lake but it looks like somebody borrowed them.


I like to keep things cozy inside with galleries and libraries. On the right you can see my staircase which leads all the way from the lighthouse to the very bottom of the world (where I found a giant wall of diamonds and gold, aw yeah). About halfway down I punched upward into the bottom of the ocean so I could have some waterfalls.


For some reason I decided I needed a bunch of underwater passages and glass chambers. In the one picture there you can see my weird neighbor working on a redstone calculator.

The beauty of the game is it's malleability- Anything in the game can be done, and everything is standardized, unlike, for example, Halo's Forge.
Everything that isn't alive is a block, and that block can be destroyed and replaced anywhere, or manipulated into tools or more advanced blocks. Everything that is alive takes up a certain number of blocks and everything in the game has it's use.
Dirt is great for scaffolding or farming or making massive structures without hax(at least until you can replace the dirt with smoooooth stone)
All mobs except maybe zombies have a unique drop, etc.

Stubby, connect your house to the spawn with minecarts, and than just build a chest with a powered cart, empty cart, and like 3 coal inside and you have your very own train.
