A server question

How do you guys deal with the xp lag on the server? My laptop server nearly crashes whenever anyone dies.

The server is a dedicated one, not run through the home. Matt's actually paying for server space through which to run it.

So that probably helps with the lag problem a bit.

XP does act sorta weird, though, after you die and pick it back up. It circles your head for AGES... it's a bit frustrating.

Not that I claim to know anything about servers and their maintenance, but... yes?

In my experience laptop servers particularly are dangerous, simply because, unless your laptop is not doing ANYTHING else, it runs poorly due to lack of space, handling, whatever (unless you're running your server through some $4,000 Alienware gaming laptop, in which case... kudos, I suppose).

Homerun servers are best handled through an inactive desktop computer, and then you can play on your laptop or whatever other computer without trouble.

Reconnecting usually solves this problem. But I'm not sure if you don't loose some XP that way.

I run it off my laptop for 2-5 people, it works fairly well, except for xP. I was hoping you guys might have some magic solution.
