Okay, I'll give you powerglove because I've never heard of them. The Lonely Island however becomes very annoying the more you hear them. I'm not much of a coldplay fan either but their Code Geass song is okay.

Here is a small list of bands that exist today and are great:

1. And One
2. Anamanaguchi
3. Turisas
4. Arcade Fire
5. Arctic Monkeys
6. Andrew W.K.
7. The Electric Six
8. Daft Punk
9. The Clash at Demonhead
10. Metric
11. Datarock
12. Deadmau5 (although I hate him as a person and I'm not a fan of his dubstep remixes)
13. Dr. Steel
14. Empire of the Sun
15. Emulegs
16. Johnny Corporation
17. Jelly Boys
18. Florence + the machine
19. Foster the People
20. Franz Ferdinand
21. Heidevolk
22. Laibach

And the least annoying parody band I've ever heard has got to be Group X. I've heard their songs so many times yet they still fail to give me a headache. Jon Lajoie and The Lonely Island however seem to annoy me if I listen to them too many times.

List of artists in any genre I find acceptable (following on from Silverdream)
1. The xx
2. Death Cab For Cutie
3. Cunninlynguists
4. Doomtree
5. Foo Fighters
6. inTRiKET
7. Burial
8. Godspeed You! Black Emperor
9. Enter Shikari
10. Astronautalis, Sadistik, Aesop Rock, other artists on Rhymesayers
11. The Gaslight Anthem
12. Dethklok
13. Celldweller
14. Childish Gambino
15. God is an Astronaut
16. Animals as Leaders
17. Kanye West
18. Placebo
19. Florence + the Machines
20. M83
21. Periphery
22. Fences

Least annoying song by Lonely Island and by far their funniest is Jack Sparrow; good one guys, tone down the immature lyrics. Even then Michael Bolton managed to give me a limbic tumour and an apathy towards life.
Also, best novelty band going http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCoG6cSING4

Kanye west is terrible. But have either of you seen Home Movies? It was Small's show before Deathlok.

Powerglove is good, but they're no where near the top 50 metal songs of all time. There are just too many other ones that either were too important for the genre to get left out or are just plain better than anything Powerglove has ever made.

Here's a list of songs that I think are awesome, while trying to sort of stick to a maximum of one song from an album:

Wheel of Time - Blind Guardian
Temple of Fear - Conquest
Call of Ktulu - Metallica
War Pigs - Black Sabbath
Holy Diver - Dio
Learning to Live - Dream Theater
Bridges in the Sky - Dream Theater
Natural High - Hammerfall
Colony of Birchmen - Mastodon
The Last Baron - Mastodon
Hearts Alive - Mastodon
III: The Will of One - The Protomen
Du Hast - Rammstein
Winter's Wolves - The Sword
The Walls of Babylon - Symphony X
Rediscovery, Part 2 - Symphony X
2112 - Rush
Whiskey in the Jar - Thin Lizzy
The Boys Are Back in Town - Thin Lizzy
Parabola - Tool
Shogun - Trivium

And I know I missed a whole bunch of songs that I love, but this here is a quick list.

There's a lot of metal singers with a wide vocal range... not all of it is aarghswargarblwargabl.

And you can never discount a whole genre of music just like that.

Are you saying dub-step has re-deeming qualities?

Somewhere, there might be one dubstep song that is listenable. Still, if you're 99.9 percent accurate in saying a genre sucks, it's worth it to ignore that 0.1 percent.

If you want to hear a good metal singer check out Jorn Lande (solo, Masterplan), Dio (obviously) or Astral Doors. There's many more but these bands are also all really accessible.

Did someone say metal singers have a limited vocal range? Rob Halford would like to speak to that fool.

Brad Delp is champ though. His voice was amazing! Thanks for all the music, but metal still isn't really my scene. I have listened more often than I used to

Pretty much like Apollyon said, it's impossible to make a list that small for good music. Even more difficult if restricted to Metal. There's so much stuff out there, that when I start to believe to know a pretty good number of bands and musicians and think I've heard it all, new ones just keep appearing and surprising me. That's the magic behind it and what I try to explain people when they wonder why I just listen to Metal. The more you listen to it and develop new tastes for the countless variations, the more you love it.

It's a universe. You can start listening as young as you can, but you'll die and still miss on something. That's how big I imagine it to be.

Yeah, I have to agree too, especially when it comes to what mood I'm in. One week I'm craving the most heavy intense metal I can find and the next week I'm on a slow doom metal kick. I'll be only listening to bands that feature epic guitar solos one day and then looking for the best bass lines the next. Metal is so varied that it can never get old.

Me and a few friends have started a cover band, yes we will post mp3s soon. Anyways, I wanted to know what you guys thought of this playlist:
(NOTE: We aren't adding anything from bands like Dio or some of the more edgy metal bands. I have nothing against it, but our only place to play is a church. We get to play because we're celebrating "god's gift of music", which is already pushing it. sorry)
-Maneater (Daryl and Oates)
-Rock and Roll band (Boston)
-Money (Pink Floyd)
-Stairway to heaven (LED ZEPPELIN)
-The miracle (Queen)
-Man I'll never be (Boston)
-Cliffs of Dover (Eric Johnson)
-Paranoid (Black Sabbath)
(ANOTHER NOTE: The band's name is the LEAGUE OF REAPERS)
