Almost all ranged weapons are for pusses. Any dweeb can pull a trigger in a mob and get lucky. We should fight all wars in melee or unarmed combat and be made to face our enemies one on one. ... infact all wars should be fought only by women in pools of mud or jellow while wearing ill fitting swimwear. Beer and bacon snacks should be provided at such events.

only your cad drawing has a mistake, the ballista doesn't work like a bow, where the energy comes from the bent limbs, instead the energy comes from the torsion springs (those thick ropes) holding the limbs.

True - but I couldn't model parts of it to the best of my ability - for the most part I spent my time concentrating on getting the look right from the source image rather than concentrating on how accurate it would be to fire (and my lecturer has no idea how ballistas work, and as such will be marking it in the same fasion).

I did have more images, I just have to find the danged things . . . I know thier on here somewhere!

Why shoot one projectile when you can shoot 200?

That's why the defensive army has a lot more. That they all fire at once. That cuts down on attacking units and clears the field for the defending army to wipe out the rest.

Cannon fodder, never put your best in first. Let the muppets and dummies take the brunt of the defensive fire and then charge your best through and gut the defences.

You can have your ballistas and Hwatchas, I'd rather have an unmanned Metal Storm or 2

(1,000,000 rounds per minute or 250,000 rpm if it fires 40mm grenades)

Warhead, cannon fodder is usually used to cut down on the enemies cannon fodder. Cut the attacking fodder out, and you can then cut down the smaller, better forces.

Then again, Hwatchas could be used extremely effectively in an ambush situation.
