BRÜTAL METAL

Since the dawn of time, one genre of music has dominated and ruled with an iron fist

There you go:

Anaal Nathrakh - More Fire than Blood

and:

Asphyx - Death... the brutal way

one of my all time favorite riffs:

Vital Remains - Dechristianize

and in a way you cannot possibly get more brutal than this:

Marduk - Panzer Division Marduk
If you're not into metal you're not my friend.

Amon Amarth I somebody didn't already mention that.
Arch Enemy is also pretty good.

But yeah, Cradle pretty much trumps all other things. For me anyway... But I am a total sucker for any form of dark imagery, so my opinion may not be based entirely off their music.

Not sure if this belongs here but skip to 1:20.

But IMO as long as it isn't screamo (which I consider to be its own thing) a lot of this stuff sounds the same.

But something to consider... I never end up listening to metal of any sort because it always gets soft for like half the song then intense the other half. I don't really like the soft parts. I prefer stuff more like this because it's intense the whole way. Are they a metal band? No. But I'd like someone to show me a metal band that does this kind of intensity for a whole song.

Visual Kei. KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

I don't quite get what you mean by "intensity". Blast beats from start to to the end of the song? There are plenty of bands who do that. Dapper looks and ridiculous costumes on stage? We got plenty of that as well. Horrific schmaltzy lyrics? Check. Pedobears favourite type of crowd? No.

Edit: The second video is awesome.

Most of you guys really need to get off the metal mainstream. Not saying its not good though (I hear it all the time), but a true metal head should know the foundations of the genre, and I found a guy on YouTube that has a channel called TimeDilationMetal.
This dude gathered various albums of old (80s-90s) bands that most people never heard of and uploads them on YouTube! Really amazing stuff, completely revolutionized my Metal knowledge.

This might sound generic, but you should listen to ALL of his stuff (about +2400 uploads so far), really great...

You cut out megadeth why? I also don't see anyone who mentioned Iron Maiden, the gods of metal. I didn't because I didn't think they were obscure enough.

Didnt came to mind at the time, but they are obviously on the list
