One day, I saw this on the street with some of my coworkers on my way to lunch, with a teenage girl driving it, instantly hated her parents....

Actually I would say that there isn't a construct of womanliness. Instead, manliness is constructed constantly and whatever is not manly is therefore womanly or effeminate or whatever. See, femininity isn't something that is so much as it is something that masculinity is not.
