Battle of Beigetown

Post by Ben-Jammin » Sat Dec 03, 2011 12:58 pm

Following the assault on Beige Carpet City, the CIS has attempted to attack the Republic ofrces again, this time near the small village of Beigetown. The Republic has sent a battalion there to defend the town and thier borders.

Image

Overwatch.

Image

The Republic troops. Led by Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, and Kit's apprentice, Nadhar Vebb. Luminara Unduli and her apprentice Bariss Offee have also decided to lend a hand. Commander Raptor has also returned, leading a special forces team alongside Plo Koon, while commander Fox and lieutenant Phoenix help lead the main assault group.

Image

The mighty CIS army, rumbling forward from some dark portal underneath my table. They are lead (again) by Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress, along with a small band of dark jedi who have decided to get in on the battle.

Image

Our favorite ninjas have returned to help the Republic. Zane and Cole have also acquired their golden weapons since the last battle. They are aided by Ben-Jammin the Exile and a new ice ninja named Duke (I know its Zane's ZX outfit but just play along with me here... :twss: )

Image

Since their skullkin allies left them, the CIS decided to hire a team of Mandalorian soldliers and mercenaries to help them in the battle. They may be small, but thier skill is great.

Image

The Republic forces begin moving forward, when Luminara and Fox stop to chat with Raptor and Plo Koon about battle plans.

"I'll take a team and secure the town," Luminara says. "Fox and Phoenix will help the main force along with Kit and Nadhar."

"Sounds good," Plo Koon replies. "Raptor and I will go help our ninja friends."

Image

"Oh man, look at 'em all!" Says Jay as he spots the CIS army, barely able to contain his excitement.

"Yeah, its time for some payback!" says Cole. "And I've been itching to try out this thing." he says, raising his Scythe of Quakes ominously.

"But remember what Sensei said," Zane cooly replies. "We should only use them if we absolutely have to..."

"Drastic times call for drastic measures," says Kai.

Image

"Forward you imbeciles!" shrieks Asajj Ventress to the dark jedi. "Savage! Remeber: we cannot let any of them survive this time! No retreat!"

"Yes, mistress." Savage sullenly replies.

Image

The formidable CIS army trudges forth slowly behind them...

Image

One unnaturally observant droid manages to notice the advancing ninjas.

"Sir, I think they are trying to flank us!" he says, alerting his officer to the danger.

"Ready that proton cannon!" he says as the massive weapon slowly hums to life. Unfortunately it will play almost no role in determining the outcome of this battle...

Image

Kit and Nadhar lead the Republic's main force.

"I've been eager for this!" says Nadhar. "Finally time to avenge our fallen troops!"

"Don't give in so easily to your anger, Nadhar!" Fisto warns.

"Yes, master," says Nadhar, with a disapointed sigh.

Image

As Luminara and her team enter the town, Plo Koon and commander Raptor lead their team to help the ninjas.

"Eyes sharp, men!" shouts Raptor. "They could be anywhere, so stay alert and watch each other's backs!"

Image

"Oh man, I don't know about this," Jay says "They brought a lot of dakka!"

"Calm yourself..." says Zane in response.

Image

"Relax," says Ben-Jammin, "I've taken down guys a lot worse than these bolt-brains before..."

Image

Asajj's dark jedi team enter the town, whereupon they spot Luminara's clone detachment.

"Clones! Its the Republic!" one of them shouts "Attack!"

Image

The CIS army, with their mercenary allies, prepare to round the corner of the town and confront their Republic adversaries.

Image

Realizing how foolish it would be of them to charge the CIS forces head-on, Kit and Nadhar head into the relative safety of the town, and stop right around the corner of a building where the dark jedi lay in wait.

"Shh! Let's wait here and ambush them!" says Kit.

Image

The Republic army charges the CIS troops, and the battle begins!

Image

"Ben-Jammin the Exile? I'm suprised to see you here. I thought you disliked us Jedi?" enquires Plo Koon to Ben-Jammin.

"I go where I'm needed. The Republic needs me." Ben-Jammin replies.

"You are a strange man," says Plo Koon. "But we welcome your help nonetheless. Now, shall we show these enemies of ours a thing or two?" Plo Koon says, motioning with his lightsaber toward the advancing CIS troops.

"Let's..." says Ben-Jammin.

Image

The ninjas rush forward.

"Split up!" shouts Kai "Theycan't hit us as easily if we aren't all together!"

Image

Suddenly the tank droid and STAP rush forward, blasting their cannons at Kai. The shots fall just a bit short, but the blast sends Kai flying backward. "Oof!" he shouts as he hits the ground.

Image

The Republic ISP speeders and the CIS tank droids begin firing at each other, and our long tank duel begins. Meanwhile, the Mandalorians use their jetpacks to begin playing leap-frog over the tanks.

Image

Another shot.

Image

The dark jedi move forward and spot our hiding jedi pair. Thinking quickly, Nadhar uses the force to push one of the dark jedi, sending him sailing backward and hitting his comrade, knocking them both over. Kit then jumps forward and attacks the third dark jedi.

Image

"See how you like this!" shouts Cole as he runs forward and plunges his Scythe of Quakes into the ground. Suddenly the ground begins to rumble, and a series of stone columns rise up from under the tank droid, doing some damage. Meanwhile Kai and the other ninjas destroy the STAP and a few other droids.

Image

...While Zane begins his infamous dragon-summoning ritual...

Image

A droid heavy then steps up and fires a missile at Jay and Duke. "Whoa!" cries Jay as he jumps to the side and dodges the blast. Duke isn't so lucky, however, and the blast sends him flying.

Image

Our tank duel continues, as both sides take some damage from the other.

Image

"Die you jedi filth!" cries Asajj as she lunges forward and attacks Kit.

Image

The Republic army slowly closes in on the CIS troops...

Image

"GRRRAAAAAHHHH!" Shouts Cole as he pulls his Scythe from the ground and swiftly decapitates two droids.

Image

The other ninjas manage to quickly finish off the other droids.

Image

Kai is blasted by the dwarf spider droid, knocking him unconcious...

Image

Our tank duel intensifies as the CIS tanks quickly begin to lose structure points.

Image

"Savage, help me!" Asajj shouts. Shortly after, the hulking form of Savage steps up to Kit and prepares to attack.

"Hold on! I'm coming!" Bariss Offee exclaims, quickly running to help Kit and Nadhar.

Image

Republic: 1 CIS: 0

Image

"Charge!" Plo Koon shouts to his men as the clone reinforcements finally arrive to help the ninjas. Zane also completes his ritual, and a massive ice dragon soon appears!

Image

Plo also uses his force powers to revive Kai.

"Thanks, I owe you one!" he replies.

Image

(Blurry pic is Blurry) "You can't win, Asajj!" Kit tries to reason with Asajj.

"You fool! I'll never become a jedi pawn! Kill them Savage!"

Savage swings his enchanted vibro-ax at Kit, who is now in serious danger of losing all of his hit points.

Image

The second tank droid is destroyed as the mighty AAT slowly glides closer...

Image

"Ack!" cries Asajj as Bariss lunges at her from the side. "You...haven't seen....the last.....of us..."

"One down, one to go!" says Nadhar.

Image

"Open Fire! Bring it down!" says Raptor as his men fire upon the last tank droid and, with the help of the ninjas, destroy it.

Image

Zane and his dragon take to the air, and the dragon uses its breath weapon to instantly freeze a droid officer and heavy.

Image

"Uh Oh!" says the droid officer as he spots the dragon, dropping his oil mug in the process. "Gunner, open fire on that...thing!"

Image

The proton cannon fires, but due to the dragon's great agility, as well as the gunner's general stupidity and poor attack roll, the shot misses the dragon by a huge margin and instead flies across my room into my wall, leaving a huge, glowing hole. Thanks, guys...

Image

A team of clone troopers and two ISP speeders unleash a torrent of blaster fire on the AAT, bringing down half its structure points in a single, massive blast.

Image

Ben-Jammin rushes forward, and with a swipe from his vibroswords, slices the wheels off of the hailfire droid, disabling it.

"Well, that was satisfying..." he says.

Image

Zane's dragon lands and kills one of the mercs with its powerful jaws. The remaining mercs open fire, dealing some structure damage.

Image

The AAT fires its main gun at the clone squad, leaving only one survivor out of the whole group. One of the ISP speeders is also destroyed as a squad of battle droids open fire and annihilate it.

Image

Bariss charges a line of super battle droids as Nadhar and Kit duel it out with Savage.

Image

The titanic AT-TE finally sees some action as its powerful mass driver cannon vaporizes the AAT.

Image

Bariss swiftly turns around and engages Savage. The brute then falls under the combined might of the three jedi.

"Oh yeah! Take that!" says Nadhar.

"Focus. The battle isn't over yet." says Kit to his eager apprentice.

Image

Ben-Jammin and Plo Koon then assault the CIS proton cannon, killing its crew.

Image

The ice dragon finishes off the last of the mercs, setting its sights on the nearby battle droids...

Image

The last squad of battle droids then attack the ISP speeder, eager to make their final stand.

Image

This is a grave mistake however, as the ISP turns and shreds the entire lot of them with a volley of blaster fire.

Image

After the battle, Luminara and Bariss meet with commander Fox and Phoenix.

"You summoned us, commander?" asks Luminara.

"Yes ma'am. You asked us to recover Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress from the field?" he asks.

Image

"Yes. Have you done so?" asks Luminara.

"That's the problem, ma'am." says Fox. "We went to recover and apprehend them, but once we arrived, they were no where to be found."

"Strange," Says Luminara, "Thank you for reporting this to me commander. You are dismissed."

"Yes ma'am." Says Fox and Phoenix simultaneously, and the two walk off.

Image

"What does this mean, master?" asks Bariss.

"I'm not sure Bariss, but I don't like it one bit..." says Luminara, "I think there may be darker forces at work here..."

Image

Elsewhere, Kit, Nadhar, and Plo Koon meet with Ben-Jammin and the ninjas to congratulate them and roast marshmellows. After the latter has been complete, Plo Koon speaks:

Image

"You have done both the Republic and the jedi order a great service, and we surely won't forget it. We may have had conflicts in the past, but you have my thanks. I surely hope we can work together in the future as allies."

Image

"Thank you for your gratitude," says Ben-Jammin "But me and my companions must be on our way."

"Yeah, we need to get back to Sensei," says Kai "Besides, its Zane's night to cook!"

"Oh man! Sweet, warm apple pie here we come!" says Jay, almost as enthusiastically as he was during the battle.

"I understand," says Plo Koon (although he's probably never tasted an apple pie in his life). "Until next time!"

Then the two groups depart.

Thanks. I was hoping that some people would still be interested in such a battle after the assault on beige carpet city, and since everyone seemed to like it and posted a lot of comments I decided to do this one as well.

Thanks. Good dialogue between the characters as well as narration is something I strive for in my battles.

As previously said, I liked the story and the narration style. This is Lego's fault but it'd be nice to see some big CIS ships and tanks instead of giving the Republic all the heavy firepower. I would have loved to see the MTT or even the more recent Battle Droid Carrier ship deploying 10 droids at a time as reinforcements just when the Republic thinks things are going well for them.

The real highlight though was your story and characterization. You had Vebb down perfectly and I think Plo and Kit were pretty good too. I liked what you did with the ninjas who are a bit less-developed character wise. It's always good to see a fellow Clone Wars fan!

The city itself seemed good but I couldn't make out much once we got into the battle itself. Very BrikWars-y setting the whole thing on the carpet.

Thanks Insert_blank. I too am a fan (although I guess everyone knows that on here). But yeah, I probably should have thrown in the MTT or a battle droid carrier (or both). Perhaps then the CIS could have had a better chance. I also agree with you in saying that I think they should make more sets of CIS units. It is somewhat disappointing that the Republic gets all the big guns. Perhaps a Super Tank or especially a GAT set would be most welcome.

Of course even in-universe the Republic always seems to out gun the CIS, so actually it's pretty realistic. There's one author who gets really mad when people say the battle droids are supposed to outnumber the Republic like 20:1 or whatever other insane ratio. Plus we never really see too many powerful CIS weapons. The whole war was engineered by Palpatine to last for awhile but to never have the CIS win so it's understandable. It's hard to find balance, especially since it's basically Dooku, Ventress, Grievous and sort of Opress vs. the entire Jedi Order which numbers in at least the hundreds if not close to the thousands.
Plus clone troopers are technically Mandos so they're also the strongest army ever assembled.

Anyway I'm a huge fan of this war. I hope to see some more in the future!

Eh, it's probably because the Space Skeletons are cheaper then Minifigs, thus CIS sets can be minimal but still have "More figures".
Personally, since my 7929 The Battle of Naboo set has the second largest amount of Minifigs and Battle Droids are THE most numerous figure I have (even in spite all the arms on the ones I got in 7126 Battle Droid Carrier breaking), one of the first armies I create will most likely be be a Space Skeleton one.
That said, I think I might try to re-stat them to be slightly... different.
Basically, they'd have as close to zero armor as possible, no ablility to melee, but better guns and maybe an inch more speed.
I'm thinking that their Hero unit will just be an Astromech Droid who can put them back together.

Actually, I think that's the casualty ratio... from the begining of the war.
Some clone named Prudii Skirata supposedly screwed with the CIS's manufacturing plants later, having them churn out droids made out of a weaker alloy that crumbled in a single hit and upping the Separatist losses to 50:1.

When it comes to Clone Wars battles, though, I prefer to have massive amount of troops and vehicles on each side, blasting the crap out of each other. And as you can imagine, there is often times a lot of destruction, since most of the vehicular weapons can do anywhere from 2d6-5d6 damage, you can get a lot of destruction going on. I've seen entire squads of infantry annihilated in a single blast from a mass driver or an artillery gun. Seeing as how my infantry squads are around 8 infantry with one officer and a specialist (for a total of ten) that is some pretty immense firepower. Such is the way of Brikwars I guess.

I love that idea for the Battle Droids! I've always been tempted to get a large group of C3P0s together as an army. With this years SW sets I think I can quickly get together quite a few of him and I have 3 or 4 already. Add some gungans and ewoks and we have a pretty annoying army.

Right! I just read that book a few weeks ago and I got a bit confused between the kill ratio and the actual numbers. Someone has said the CIS has a quintillion battle droids and the Republic has so many billions of troopers but the author who invented Prudii and the other NULL Arcs says there are 3 million troopers and maybe only a few billion droids.

Regardless I'd love to see an army of 100 or so battle droids getting destroyed super quickly and being rebuilt by an astromech. It's almost a zombie-esque idea which could work perfectly with a few soldiers having to hold out in a fort for so many turns or even inside a small ship trying to get to the escape pods before being overrun.

Bah. The only good Clone Wars is Genndy Tartovsky's microseries. Where Grievous was jedi slaying, clone chopping, chancellor stealing badass. Fuck the new series, fuck Lucas, fuck books, this was the only Clone Wars for me.

Eh, I actually like the Battle Droids...
I don't know what it is, but I just love their spindly design.
That said, I don't really care for Protocal Droids, so I'm not going to include them if I can help it.

Well I'd go with the former myself.
Remember that this is a Galaxy spanning conflict, and each side has a helluva lot of resources to work with.
Frack, Coruscant has a confirmed population of 1 trillion permanent ground residence, so I think they'd have more then a piddly three million clones.

Indeed, the idea is that Briktoid Automata rebels have focused mostly on trying to shoot the crazy organics before they can wreck shit...

...And failing that, hope their Astromech superiors can repair them correctly.

Yeah, everyone who isn't a Clone suffers from Badass Decay in the CG series...
Still, it does a decent job of giving the Clones and Droids themselves some character.

I'd love to see a battle with the ninjas, the dragons, MAYBE a Jedi, versus dozens of droids and their vehicles. Also, a fight aboard/ around a minifig scale Crab cannon (That big lazer thing in the 5th episode of the clone wars cartoon.
