2001 vehicle rules: Question

Postby Theblackdog » Sat May 03, 2008 7:19 pm

Question: in the 2001 rules, what limits the number of weapons that can be attached to a certain-sized platform?
Just one random act of violence can brighten your day. Especially if it involves explosives.

technically, nothing. BUT, each weapon had an associated weight to go along with it. if your creation's carrying capacity is maxed out (more weight than the engine can handle, see block displacement charts for amount of power), then it suffers movement penalties, until it effectively cannot move.

basically, it was stupid.

2001 vehicle rules: Question

Postby Theblackdog » Sun May 04, 2008 5:44 am

yeah... thanks. I think I'll mix-and-match with the 2001 rules and say "twice as many inches of weapons as your vehicle's size".

You mean, exactly like the 2005 rules? Or, I guess, more or less the same. Ish.

Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.

i honestly don't even worry about platform size restrictions. if a weapon fits on it, then dammit it will work!

what are the current rules regarding armor thickness?
I had a thought to use actual wall thickness as the defining factor,
eg: if I had a van with "C" wall pieces [ for the bulk of it's structure,
this would be equivalent to an unarmored panel-van (High-powered bullets could rip right through it.). However, if I had a Post-apoc SUV made out of conventional brix, this would be equivalent to cannibalized tank armor (you would have to have special AP weaponry).

I think there's a part that says "Unless you have a better idea, armor is XD10 where X is the size of the creation."

Failing that, you could just say so anyways. So a 2-inch minivan has 2D10 armor, and a 2-inch tnak is foritified, giving it 3D10 armor.

Or even do the following if you have more dice than sense:

Creation Armor (x=size of creation)
xd10-2 for [relatively] light armor (skin, fiberglass, etc)
xd10 for [relatively] medium armor (tanks, mecha, etc)
xd10+2 for [relatively] heavy armor (ramming vehicles, foritified walls, etc)

If you want, of course.
It's a secret to everybody.

Man those 2001 rules were ridiculous. I don't know how you could play with more than a handful of units and expect to enjoy it.

I think that was the point. Sort of. Maybe after-the-fact. :P

That's what I thought too, but over the years the evidence has shown that it is completely possible as long as you live in Boston and are massively psychotic.

I managed to play it, and I don't even live in boston...
but then again, my army was limited to about a dozen or so minifigs(I do not have that many parts)
Act first, then think, then try to find a way to cover up the horrible mess you made.

I'm 90% sure that comment was directed at Shaun Sullivan and NELUG.

I tried to play it and I'm ALMOST psychotic and live NEAR Boston. Does that count?
