Bipods

For a cost of one CP, bipods can be mounted on bastard guns and machine guns. When the bipod is
deployed, the attached weapon is considered to be a size two mounted weapon. Gunners using weapons with deployed bipods gain their 1d8 skill.
It takes an action to deploy a bipod. Removing the weapon from a deployed stance is free. While the bipod is deployed, the operator is imoblie, and although the operator may bail, the operator will drop the gun in the bailing process.
Being imobile grants the operator +to his skill roll when using the mounted weapon, but his opponents have a +1 to hit the operator, as the operator is unmoving.

"Hmm... I only have a 2/3 chance to hit the first Lich, and then only a 1/2 chance to hit the next."

"Better deploy my bipod"

"Exellent! Not only do i have a +1 bonus, now my gunnery training kicks in(1d8 skill)! I now have a 6/8 chance to hit the first Lich and a 5/8 chance to hit the second, but I can now dish out more damage!"

If he bails I would expect that he doesn't bring the gun with him.

I like the idea, the gun, and the pictures.
This was a good post.

I don't think deploying a bipod counts as a whole action, I'd say it should be a free action, but he can't undeploy the bipod in the same turn, and he has to choose whether to shoot, or undeploy and move each turn.

But then you just turn it around, why would you do that? I think it is fine this way. It should take an action because it is basically a turret mounted on your weapon that transforms your basterd gun into a 2" gun, that's powerfull enough.

You could just make it cost movement.

A turn to deploy then one to retract is very steep, It'd be worth trading either shooting or moving for. I don't think you'd find gunnery on the stat sheet of normal figures as it's best used on larger vehicle turrets. Although I can still see the point of bipods, just seems like a large penalty for not a large increase unless you were playing a small game or had a squad of them.

Removing is free. See?

Which was why I pointed it out. We all miss stuff from time to time.

My only question is why do you think it should magically increase the size of the weapon to size 2? I personally think that having it be considered "mounted" is enough of a bonus as-is.
I would also conjecture that since it's only a skill boost, deployment should take place
IMMEDIATELY, then cost a turn to retract the weapon back into a carryable form. Thoughts?
