Base cost: 2 CP PLUS usual costs for whatever you put in it.

It has to be something that a minifig will reasonably be able to carry in his or her hands - no vehicles allowed. Just general weapons and small handheld items.

Use: 4

Searching the case for a specific item that the player has put into the case and paid the CP for is a whole action. The minifig spends a whole action searching the case for a specific named item.

1 - critical failure: The case breaks and all the contents are spilled around it in a 2" radius. The case is FUBAR, and anyone nearby may pick up items as they are on the ground and free for the taking. This includes minifigs of opposing players if they are close enough.

2-3 - failure: The minifig fails to find what they are looking for. Better luck next turn.

4+ - success: The minifig finds what they are looking for and can equip themselves with it, ready for their next turn.

Critical Success [natural 6 on a d6, natural 8 on a d8, natural 10 on a d10, etc]: The item is found so rapidly that it does not take up an action and the minifig can use it immediately as if they already had it in their hands.

A minifig with a "Basildon Bond's Spy Briefcase" can also put any hand-sized objects they come across into the case. Retrieving them again is done through the usual dice roll.

Size limits: Anything that is listed in the rules as a standard weapon or piece of equipment in the "Mighty Minifig" section of the rules can be put into the case. Anything that is made through the creation rules. including larger weapons, are considered too big to put into the case.

In theory one can have a whole arsenal within the case of standard weapons, armour, and other bits of assorted equipment. Tardis Theory is in play here, within the limitations set out above.

Interesting twist for a similar idea: instead of paying for the items/equipment/whatever, you can just pull out one item worth 1d6 CP per turn, with the same limitations on size. As soon as a 1 is rolled, the bag has been emptied, and no longer functions.

That could work as an alternative - maybe for Manly hugging Santa's Sack.

In which case I would boost its CP up to 6 because nothing is pre-paid for, using your above mechanics.

The idea was to represent the neat cases James Bond always seemed to be kitted out with at the start of each movie, and to riff off the "Action Cliché: Secret Agent" thing.

A third way of doing it would be to just buy a case for 2CP and have the character use his Feats to be able to draw something useful out of his case.

The third option's available to heroes only - the first two could still be worked by any regular schmoe.

Both fill pretty different niches (even if it's roughly the same idea), so i definitely like them both.

So we have three workable ways to do something depending on exactly what one wants to achieve in flavour within a game.

Now why did people have such trouble with the same concept of more than one way to do something for snipers earlier?

A little inconsistency there...

Could one pull an entire minifig from the bag?

If we're sticking to the hand-held items rule, no.

If not, it is theoretically possible...

That would be done on the third method using the Action Cliché: Secret Agent and Feats - they are basically What I Say Goes Rolls - but yes you are perfectly correct.

You could also make it a heroic weapon (heroic equipment item?). Then, if Bond dropped it, anyone else could use it to acquire useful gadgets. Batman's utility belt would work in a similar way. The item's would have to meet the cliché. The bond case would produce weapons or spy tools disguised as inoccuous objects, and Batman's utility belt would have a grappling hook, grenades, and shark repellent.

No need to be booty bothered.

This is a forum full of fickle, opinionated people

I am not particularly booty bothered about it, I just consider the inconsistency a little weird...

Clearly the discussion in the Snipers thread opened everyone's eyes and they became enlightened. That thread now exists only as a reminder of our previous regressive state.

*snickers*

Perhaps, perhaps not. We shall see...

*scampers away, laughing maniacally*

That or the fact that these rules are actually a little different from one another in terms of flavor and mechanics, instead of five different ways to increase a rifle's range.
