'Tug of war' space scenario

Post by dilanski » Tue Jul 21, 2009 5:45 am

I got this idea from an old star wars game

you need:

3+ space tugs or recovery space scooters per team

several pieces of space junk logically worth recovering i.e. parts to an orbital cannon

2+ starfighters per team (always have 40% more tugs than fighters) per team

an diverse space battlefield with bits of debris etc

optional: large space ship each

at the start of the game decide on a starting point each, the objective is to use the tugs to get all the space junk to your respective starting point destroying opponent tugs fighters etc everytime a ship or tugs destroyed next turn it respawns at its starting point.

ideas on how to improve?

Well I'd say use it as a deathmatch scenario, and the space junk can be used to obliterate the competition. Maybe it could be a space station or carrier wreckage and you salvage weapons off it, and use them to fight each other?

Also, instead of saying 40% more tugs than fighters, use a ratio of 3:2 Tugs:Fighters. Much easier to work out.

You could use this system as a method of collecting resources to build more ships, like in Homeworld. So you would start out with a lot of tugs and a few fighters, and then gradually build up a big fleet of warships for an epic final battle.
