Ah, perfect! I know what I'm going to do.

It's going to be a webcomic/forum battle. So there'll be an on-going storyline, and then player orders will affect battles.

Ah, sorry, man.

This requires me to build interior spaceship bridges and hallways and stuff.

God dammit. I'm not sure I have the pieces for that crap... or at least not enough to make it look GOOD...

Oloth, do you mind if I attempt to make a QuikSpace ruleset? I'll prolly fudge it beyond recongization, but I'd like to give it a shot while you're working on v 1.5.

Reading the rules last night I realized how unwieldy they were here are MY rules for when I am going to play. All ships frigate and above are measured in brik length. (LengthxWidth)/5=Ship Points. The base ship cost is equal to the number of ship points. The number of extra CP you can spend in three times the ship points. And you have to damage the ship that number of times to get it to go blewie.

DO it. I'd appreciate the help, it was one my list of things to do anyway. Also, go ahead and make sample ship lists for each class? That'd be awesome. If you finish them, I'll include them as part of v1.5's release. You can PM me if you have any questions. Sloopofwar, your rules would yield RIDICULOUS extras limits. Your average ship could buy one of just about anything in the rules. Also, divide by 5? That's a really unwieldy number for ships that can be 6-7" long.

Still, that's your choice, just pointing out flaws. You let me know how well that works out for you. If you like power-playing, then you should be fine. All of us who aren't of that stripe, though, will stick to the normal rules.

All my frigates have 4 ship points which comes out the same as your system. And the mega scaling is more realistic at least in my opinion. :roll:

It's also a ridiculous amount of bookkeeping, and means that any ship above 10" can totally frag anything at half of that length, with little to no worry of retaliation.

I'm not going for realism (if you're a realistic gamer, how the hell did you end up playing Brikwars?), I'm going for sensibility and simplicity.
