BrikRPG?

Post by Nerava » Tue Sep 14, 2010 11:22 am

Trying to make a BrikWars / RPG mix. Any suggestions other than "don't" would be appreciated. If all you're going to do is yell at me, fine, but remember that that would artificially increase the apparent popularity of this forum.

And yes, I do like using excessively elaborate words.

I believe that Brikwars as played on the forum is already a mix of War Game and RPG. There are Heros who have special abilities that feel more liek an RPG Hero for example.

I think the need for an additional set of rules is not needed, rather just increase the amount of backstory/running commintary in the game.

Daniel that is exactly what I'm trying to do with the Immortal War. Oh, and the planning of FICO is done, building has commenced. There are many ideas that may allow more players. More to come at a later date.

And Immortal War was what I was thinking of when I wrote that. :D

The way that has taken on a life of it's own to a degree is very RPG in feel.

SIMPLEZ!

6. everyone gets a character, they are level 4
7. for each kill they get give D6 Exp
8.100 Exp = 1 level
9.1 Level = 1CP towards minifig cost!
10.ues GPG (golden peices of gold) dropped by enemies to buy equiment, Each GPG = 1CP!

SOLVED!

Thank you, everybody. Many of these ideas are things I have thought of, but being relatively new to the Brikwars universe, I was unaware of the fact that there was already a fair degree of content regarding this. I had not heard of Brickquest, Immortal war, or FICO before, but will certainly look at and consider anything I find of remote interest. It is very likely that I will make about 1000+ pages of content and leave 99% of it alone for the majority of the time, but I hope to find new ideas.

I will post any developments here, please let me know if you have any tips.

More than equipment and stuff players want characters that progress. Make sure your style of play takes that into account.

RPG progression

Post by Nerava » Fri Sep 24, 2010 8:23 pm

I will make sure that I have character advancement, and the character EXP system is getting better designed, where CP of the unit killed is used to determine EXP gained.

It's easy coming up with equipment scaling (low to high technology, mundane to magical) , but I am having difficulties deciding whether to have evenly spaced or scaling level ups. With the first, I would likely use levels = CP to spend, but with the second, I would introduce more powerful abilities each level.

Any suggestions? Other ideas are welcome as always.

You should be able to buy steeds and upgrade them and buy them armor and weapons, and you should be able to buy skills such ass stealth, piloting and leadership.

You should also be able to purchase better skilldice, armor or movement then just weapons with the CP you earned by leveling up.
