Yeah, the 2005 armor rules just gave you (in effect) SL 1 (1d10 armor) instead of SL 1/2 (1d6 armor), which is still perfectly legitimate under 2010 (a unit may have a SL up to its size, which for a minifig is 1).
This should be in the Rulebook somewhere:
