I feel like "devode" should be the past tense of "divide."

Yes it should be positive

Consider "devoed."

Either answer is equally correct. X divided by zero equals plus or minus infini :byzero:

stubby is right, 1/0 could be either positive or negative infinity.

of course what would happen if you have 0/0 (or equivalently 0*∞)?

somebody in maths when doing parabola graphs started by finding the y-intersect (we had yet to see what they looked like).

then you'd get 0. 0/0 is a mathematical possibility, since it's just zero things divided into zero parts.

I my have errored something their.
The 0 is also a double player in the fact we where doing parabola graphs, so it's impossible to have a y-intercept, which would involve devideing by zero, (y=1/x, if x=0 then it's y=1/0)

0/0 is a mathematical possibility yes, however it can be ANY number.
for example Sin(x)/x =1 when x=0* (Sin(x)=0 and x=0 so that means 0/0)
but it could also be 2, 3, Pi, infinity or 0. it kind of depends

Also: Yes, l'hopital's rule rules.

* more accurately would be that Sin(x)/x gets closer to 1 as you get closer to x=0. but meh

How come when I make the joke, no replies were at all humorous.

Also, Darthbrik, I'd watch your iPod. They are known to be sadistic maniacal mass murderers. They were the cause of the Haiti Earthquake.
