This happened to me on a secondary computer. I only turned it on once a week so it lasted several months like that. If you are using it every day, back up all your data now and be mentally prepared to replace the hardrive when it dies.
If you don't know where the noise is coming from, well, it may be a fan so no big deal. Sometimes I would get noise from my graphics card fan. Hitting that with some canned air helps.
