Yeah, sucks that I already knew :spoil: he was just a figment of his imagination :spoil: , but it still kind of threw me off when it all came together.

Great movie though, I would definitely watch it a few more times.

Ok, it wasn't the greatest movie ever made, or all that mindfucky, but it did cover the enlightened star-god aliens seeding the universe side of sci-fi (IN FILM) and gave us some fairly good "what are you doing Dave" type quotes so, yeah, it's all good. Back then Sci-Fi came in one flavour of this is all you have. I suspect that's why Star Trek Next Gen became almost bearable.
