Yes it was really strange........ I had a tradesman over to do some work for me and were were talking afterwards and I think he was trying to chat me up. Yes really! He's around my own age and he's a pleasant enough sort of chap, but I don't think he cottoned on to the fact that Religious sister = vow of chastity.

It was really quite peculiar as I don't think in those sort of terms anymore. Especially with me being a Solitary and everything. I hope I won't have to end up with having to give 'the explanation' when he comes back. to complete the rest of the work next week.

When I was much younger I used to think that sex and people being made in two different genders was a bad idea (I even still have an unpublished manuscript on that theme somewhere). Perhaps in my heart of hearts I still think it's a bad idea (shrugs and sighs). Anyway it doesn't actually matter anymore because I'm not available and I'm not interested in intimacy with anybody.

When I was younger I did all that and arrived at the conclusion that sex without love is a totally empty act. In desiring God as one's lover all thoughts of sex become extinguished and are no more than the slightest of distractions like the memories of the silly things one might have done when young.

On reflection I think it is loneliness than becomes mistaken for the need to engage in sexual acts. It is God who completely fills the emptiness we call loneliness and in desiring God before all else the seeker is able to leave the urges of the flesh behind and not be ruled by them.
