Hateception.
I hate people who talk about illegal activities loudly in the middle of class.

Or talk constantly about getting high and drunk. When they're 14.

I hate my schools method of "teaching" students how to "use" a computer.

we got a STEP BY STEP guide for connecting to the schools wifi, including steps such as "click on the icon that looks like this:[picture]" and type into this box [WEP key].
they didn't even think to method at the start that the WEP key was X, so that most students could note down the single step.

The worst part is that at the bottom of the guide it said "If you don't have your laptop today, make sure to do this when you get home". yes because my laptop picks up the schools network ~5km away.

worst part is of course; they emailed this notice.

ALSO!
FUCK THE SHIT SECURITY SOFTWARE! It's a monitoring program meant to report when you visit "indecent" or "fun" sites (basically anything the schools servers block), such as Google images or BBC news.

This thing uses 100,000k of memory and shuts down the computer when ended. I don't have it (dual boot off USB drive then deleted it) but it just isn't needed.

Why does your school not want you to read the news? That seems pretty stupid.

BBC news. *raises eyebrow*

I've heard of this program. It's used by really freaking anal parents to monitor their kids- it rates a site on a scale of 1 to 100, and emails their pastor if they go over a certain number.

The Brikwars home page hits about a 40, if I'm right.

Heh. The forums must go off the charts.

It's the "informs their pastor" part that puts an extra level of creepiness on the whole thing. If it just told the parents, I guess it would be ok for them to use it on younger kids.

Yeah... I found that quite ridiculous to be honest. I think it's customizable, so the weird part is that the parents probably set that up.

Regarding school networks: ours sucks ass. It took me more than 24 hours to download TF2. With a wired connection. A math professor just sent out an email that we need some kind of program for our homework assignments, and the download says it'll take about four hours. FUUUUUUUCK

that's not the program. it's quite confusing what the hell it dose, if anything. The school block most website anyway, but when it's reporting something it brings up a notification bubble.
bbc is an on-off affair, it seems to be trying to autoblock it due to the amount of time people spend there (the teachers, it's on their laptops as well!) yet it then get's unblocked because, well it's the beeb.

We weren't allowed laptops for anything. And there was no wireless anyway.
