Horrible spelling

Postby Bragallot » Thu Mar 08, 2012 11:51 am

Seriously, it's impossible to spend a certain amount of time* on the internet without coming across horrible spelling mistakes that make me go 'wtfidonteven'. I wonder if it's because there's always a few people on any board who are too young to have learned how to write properly, lazy, or simply because a lot of people are purposely retarded.

Here's some fine examples from a thread I was reading:

Shirley (instead of Surely)
annoymous
incompotance

I don't mean to be a Grammar Piltogg but seriously people? At least on this forum it's pretty much ok. If you have some examples that left you baffled, post them, might give us a laugh ;)

I post mostly at night or in the morning, tiredness accounts for a good portion of my mistakes. Posting in a rush gives rise too many typo's as well, apart from that and comedic effect, you can argue the point that most browsers now have spell check, and Google has one built in. You're right on the point that with age comes better spelling and grammar. My old posts make me seem even more retarded and I'm guessing that if you spend most of the time you're writing in a formal classroom setting, then you'd be more likely to check as you go, while when on the internet things seem less formal, at first and you'd expect less people to care, until you realize that the only thing people have too judge you is what and how you write. final point I'd have to make is that syntax can be a pain in the ass for those who don't write often, or do so in sporadic notes, so many little rules and ways of getting an idea cross, the difference between 'too' and 'to', even when writing this I've had too make many little changes, re-order words and fix things that would only be noticed if everything was re-read, and chances are something will still not make crystal clear sense to those reading due to a misplaced comma or my ability to write paragraph sized sentences. that or a sizable portion of internet dwellers are retarded, possibly both.

English isn't your first language and you're chastising us for using it wrong.

Clearly you Europeans are superior in intellect to the rest of us.

I meant the internet in general. As I said this board is ok, maybe due to the large numbers of Nazis.

Also, we have a lot of dumb fucks over here, too.

Well, yes, but that isn't the point right now.
It is clearly about how a large part of the internet seems to lose all grammar and spelling ability as soon as they surf the webs.
and yes, this forum seems quite fine in comparison, but I think that is mostly because we will mock and shame you if it becomes too bad.
You somewhat quickly learn that spelling better will get us to accept you more(though other factors are more important).
Act first, then think, then try to find a way to cover up the horrible mess you made.

I think it's more that they never had it, not that they lost it. People don't care about being educated.

In my attempt to beat Shirley for Surely, that was the best (worst?) I could do. You're bound to find better ones if you dig through my older posts though.
