Retarded computer screen

So I got this computer screen a while ago, and I knew it was from a shitty shop that has only managed to sell us crap, but my old screen was broken and I got it for free so I took it. Since I've had this screen, it's had massive problems at adjusting the display of games accordingly - in other words, filling them to the screen or at least showing everything. I thought I had this fixed and I did for quite some time, but for no reason from today on the screen has started being a bitch again. From showing the wrong colours to making displays of games much too small or having parts fall off the screen. Auto-adjust doesn't do anything, select 'fill to screen' no longer solves it either. Manually adjusting the display only gets inadequate results, and screws up the display of everything else when I go back to the main screen or something else. Any ideas on what I should do? Besides slam the screen with a sledgehammer?
