You can either build both forces or find someone that is building the force you don't want and trade the figures to them.
A friend of mine is starting a Droid army so we can each get a battle pack and I'll trade him the Commando Droids in mine for the Clones in his. Then we each have 4 troops and a cannon.
I will agree though that the possible battle pack with the named character (Bariss) is a bad idea.

The Jek Porkins figure needs a body attachment to increase his body to the correct girth.

Its been extended to 2016. Looks like we have Star Wars for another 5 years.
