2013 SETS THREAD

Okay so I know it may be a bit early to post this, but I figured I may as well start a thread to "follow-up" our 2012 sets. So, without further ado, here is the 2013 sets thread!

To start things off, I came across a big suprise this morning: FBTB just posted the official list of the first wave of 2013 Star Wars sets (no images so far except for the rancor set). I know most of you guys aren't into star wars as much but I thought I'd show it anyway:

http://www.fbtb.net/2012/08/25/lego-sta ... -revealed/

Here's the list as well:

Planet Series:
-Kamino w/R4-P17 (yay!) and jedi starfighter
-Coruscant w/Clone Pilot and Republic Assault Striker (whatever that is)
-Asteroid Field (?) w/TIE Bomber and TIE Pilot

Regular Sets:
-The Old Republic Battle Pack (AWWW YEEEEAAAAAA) (2x sith troopers and 2x republic troops )
-Clone Troopers vs. Sniper Droidekas battle pack (hopefully some regular clones instead of ice cream)
-A-Wing w/Admiral Ackbar (:trap:), Han Solo (?) and A-Wing Pilot
-AT-RT w/yoda, clone trooper and assassin droid (probably yet another un-realistic, colossal AT-RT version that will be super expensive compared to the 2005 version)
-Z-95 Headhunter ( :D ) w/2x clone troopers and General Krell
-Rancor Pit

Sets look pretty cool. Finally getting an Old Republic battle pack! I'll be buying tons of those.

I've also noticed that a lot of these new sets feature clone troopers, and I'm willing to bet that they're gonna start making Ep. III-ish clones now since the ones in TCW have changed their armor too.

Anyhow, discuss.

Apart from Rancor pit, these all sound dull as fuck to me, then again I'm not too much into SW. Gotta wait for other set leaks to pop up.

You might be interested in the Hobbit sets then.

Mayhaps, although they're far too overpriced and peachy for the handful medieval parts I'm interested in getting.

Crap, sorry guys I was a bit excited for the SW sets and I forgot the new LOTR/Hobbit stuff. Anyhow Elrond is an exclusive; you have to pre-order the game somewhere (I can't remember sorry) in order to get him. Although I suppose you could just BL him).

I am really excited for the hobbit sets. I really hope they do a nice job on Smaug. The Rancor looks pretty good so hopefully they'll try to make Smaug look as good (or better).

I'm excited for the Bag End set for a few reasons.

1) New parts/parts in new colours. The donut plates, round bricks and 1x2 tiles in nougat, and arched windows in dark green? Oh hell yes.
2) A nice selection of green parts, something you don't see very often in one set. There's some bright green thrown in there, which makes it even better.
3) The dwarves/hobbits. You get a Santa dwarf, a balls-to-the-wall manly dwarf, a fat dwarf, and a Russian dwarf. No, I haven't read The Hobbit. I do have it on my shelf, though.

Now that I look at it, you're right. All that green and nougat: perfect for some new Kuragin vehicles. And since they have some peaches in their force, Those dwarfs could easily be heroes. Now I just need to think of some names...

Looks pretty demonic, the new Ninjago sets might become interesting.

Idunno, prolly catalog shot. Next year's ninjago enemies will be the 'stone army', which sounds like armybuildan!
