My friend got it, and it is the flimsiest shit I've ever seen. half of it breaks when you open their cockpits.Strider wrote:How did that not do well? Holy Fuck!
Must get...
EDIT: But on the topic of another theme, Lego has tossed around the idea I believe and I don't know why it hasn't happened. I would like to see a more adult theme, not like breaking bad, but something that isn't overly inappropriate. like, it isn't like AFOLs are some extremely small market. there are tons of them out there, and the minecraft set is sort of an example. you know, because half of the people that bought it were adults, the others probably TFOLs. I guess I would like to see a video game theme pop up, with real characters. I doubt too many companies would have a deal with a partnership of the biggest fucking toy company in the world. (possibly)

Re: Set/Theme Wishlist
Hey so I bought the space skulls set because of this thread, and it came in the mail today.
I've done nothing but play with this shit since I opened the box. That was like 6 hours ago. This is easily one of the coolest LEGO sets ever, and I only paid 50 bucks for it.

Yeah, I bought one to, came the other day. Pretty amazing set if I must say so myself. It is a little flimsy, but definitely makes up for it

The plane can fucking BITE. How many flying vehicles have a melee attack?
The little VTOL ship is also the perfect two-man transporter/assault vehicle.
EDIT: Wow. Pics very related. Space Skulls are awesome.

Re: Set/Theme Wishlist
Because it's such a niche audience, that's why. Not every movie or show or video game you like has to be made into a Lego set. If you want a Lego model of something you like, make it.
This is the problem I have with CUUSOO. I'm not going to go on a rant about the users (I've done enough of that already), but the principle of the site is so vulnerable to this mentality. Lego doesn't use the site for theme/line ideas, they use it to come up with individual sets. That just means that everyone is going to suggest their favourite vehicle from this one movie that was never released in theatres. Since it expanded its audience to North America, it's been bombarded with random "i like this tank plz make it support me on cuusoo and share!!!!!!!!" ideas. The two Japanese products were both scientific research craft. I realize that fundamentally, these are the same thing, just with real life vehicles instead of ones from a movie/show/game. The reason I consider to be different is that these two are more on the level of the Exclusive model sets that Lego has been putting out for years. This is very different from the little Minecraft Micro World that was the first product to come out of the North American CUUSOO. It was cute and fun, but why is everything being dumbed down to the point where instead of making their own models, people just support the one they find on CUUSOO, and hope that it one day becomes a set, and they can just buy it instead.
I will add that while official sets have the ability to make parts in new colours (or new parts), they are still very limited by legal connections, price point, and durability. So while something may look very good, it could translate horribly into an official set (I'm looking at you, Pete).
People don't think through their suggestions, and I wanted a thread where actual thought-out ideas could be shared. I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Re: Set/Theme Wishlist
Howl's Moving Castle has too many structural weaknesses to make an effective weapons platform. Those legs are tiny!
