AltBricks tank treads

Post by pkbrennan » Thu Dec 12, 2013 1:55 pm

I was looking at these over at http://www.altbricks.com and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this manufacturer and their products?

They're $10 for a pack of 200 so well under import duty costs if I pick up a couple of packs.

Also, what would be the best way to construct the wheels and chassis using such tracks?

I used those tracks (well, the ones from Lego) on the Vindicator. I attached them to the chassis just in the same way as they are in the set they came in: Dozer 7685. Page 42 onwards in the pdf instructions

The chassis itself is u-shaped with plates at the bottom and 2 bricks wide walls on the sides. That's not very stable as such so i used horizontal technic beams on top of the "u" making it very sturdy sacrificing a bit of potential interior room. I think i do have several pictures of different building stages or i can make new ones, too if required.
