For some reason Tesco cherry-picked some 2013 sets and put them on the shelves in advance. Good build, I should try to pick up more creator sets.

Pick up some Mirkwood Archer polybags and stick them on the back of that lovely set. Fierce flying archer platform....

I was actually in the middle of ordering parts for the medieval army I'm putting together (because despite the fact that my collection of medieval lego sets outnumbers my space collection 5-1, I have no medieval brikwars armies) when I saw this post. Needless to say, I picked up one of these sets for this express purpose. I have a different archer design than the mirkwood elves though.

Now I'm jelly because you can buy sexy mirkwood archers; no polybag sets here.

I have two of those eagle sets, and even though I only got them for the parts, I'm still more than satisfied with them. I find it kind of funny that, intentional or not, it's a very North American set. An eagle for the Americans, a beaver for the Canadians, and a scorpion for the Mexicans. Yes I know there are more than three countries in North America.

As for other loot, the highlight of this year is a drawing/drafting table... thing. It's not an actual table, but it sits at an angle on any desk or table. There's probably a legitimate term for it, but I haven't looked into it enough to know. Regardless, I'm very happy with it.

I got a few minifigs from my little sister, the battle of helm's deep and the garbage truck. My poor Grampa got me 100$ which I can't believe and my more well off grandparents got me 10$ oddly enough.

It was a really good haul overall.

I got the best blind buy ever today. I got 2 mutant space marines, 1 Japanese robot, 1 roman emperor, 1 two faced scientist, 1 knight, and that's it.

Manly Santa Day loot:

1Q84 - Third book by Haruki Murakami
The Casual Vacancy by J.K.Rowling
A Lolita style skirt with matching ribbon
A frying pan
Lots of money
Lots and lots and lots of chocolate

As you can see, no Lego. So I spent some of the money on these

plus some random minifigs: Tennis player, Red Riding Hood and Santa Claus.

When shopping over the holidays, my local Lego store gave me one of those pick-a-brick gift boxes. As my roommate put it, I taught them to think twice about being generous with me.

89x 1x2 Clear
45x 1x2 light blue
65x 1x2x2 clear wall/window elements
36x 1x3 Tan

40x bamboo plant elements
4x red flower-like elements
5x yellow flower-like elements
12x dk grey fender arches

9x white steering wheels
14x 1x2 plates with the click hinge male
17x 1x2 plates with the parallel bar above it
7x 1x1 round trans-red bricks
24x black antenna
59x 1x2 grill plates (white)
58x 1x1 trans-yellow plates
4x 1x2 plates w/center stud (yellow)
127x 1x1 plate with clip on the top

I need to sit down with pick-a-brick and calculate what that would have cost as an order.
