I think I'll stick with 2x2 plates. Those are cool, but they would make a big height difference between minifigs using them and not using them.

I usually go for green 2x4s, for the sake of uniformity and the more-than-casual resemblance of all those great painted Warhammer figures you see floating around. 4x4s are good for hardsuits, smaller mechs, or certain larger animals. I've recently started using my entirely too large collection of gungan Kaadu mounts:

i like them but warhammer mounts with a hole for a 1x2 to be glued in work well. (if you glue the 1x2 in that is)

I either play on hard surfaces or with baseplates, so these serve no purpose for me.

Also, I like to keep everything to strictly Lego, so these are a no-no for me.

Cool anyway.
