The Café Corner Thread

Postby aoffan23 » Sun Dec 19, 2010 6:20 pm

This thread is partly for myself, partly for all of you. This is the thread for posting your CC MOCs, ideas, discussion, or just anything to do with it.

I think this will end up consisting mostly of MOCs, but I'm fine with that, since that's my intention.

So without further ado, I'll start us off.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a building I'm working on in LDD.

Image

Wag's is a WIP Café Corner-style restaurant/bar/lounge I'm working on in LDD.

Yes it's called Wag's. Why? Cause it's short for my last name (Wagner), not for any other reason. Shoo, you dirty-minded little runts.

This is an outside shot of the restaurant so far. It includes 2 floors (soon to be 3), an alley at the side and back, and a balcony on which to eat on nice days.

Image

This is the back alley of the restaurant. Here you can see the back door, dumpster, gas meter and pipe (which will also lead to the kitchen on the third floor when finished), and ladder to the roof (a second one will have to be added on the third floor to reach the roof). The back door has a buzzer on it for if an employee can't get in.

The side and back alleys are connected, because I found it strange that all the CC buildings had alleys at the back, but no way to access them from the sidewalk. The exception is Market Street, but I don't think that one had a back alley. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Image

A close-up of the chicken wing mosaic in front of the doors. Wag's is famous for their wings. Because I said so.

Image

The first floor is the lounge/bar, where you can come in, sit back, and have a nice relaxing drink in front of the fireplace.

Here you can see a full view of the fireplace, which is pretty big. There's an actual fire piece and some "logs", but you can't see them.

Image

This is a better view of the leather couch in front of the fire, as well as the (unfinished) bar and stools. You can also see that the gas pipe connects to the back of the fireplace.

Image

In addition to the couch, there is also a leather armchair in the corner, with a small table beside it. You can also see the door to the door (lol) at the back. The baseplate is still showing there because I haven't added a floor to that part yet.

Image

This the hostess stand, I don't know if it has a formal name, so I'll call it that. The stand has a space at the back for menus (like real ones do), and the thing in the corner is a sign. If I end up buying/making this IRL, then I'll make a sticker that will say "Please wait to be seated".

Image

Stairs. That's pretty much it.

Image

The top of the stairs. Much more exciting than the picture of the stairs.

Image

The second floor is where people eat.

So far there's only one table inside, and I plan to add some 4-seater tables as well as stairs to the third floor, meaning space will be tight.

Image

This floor also includes a patio to enjoy fresh air while you eat. There are three tables. I could add a fourth, but it would make things too cramped, so I most likely won't do it.

Image

And here is the big attention-catcher, the sign. It features the same checkerboard pattern as the patio, awnings, and sidewalk mosaic. I decided to use the angled pieces for the letters because I couldn't be arsed figuring out how to angle the plain tiles. I like the way it looks though.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's all I have at the moment, let me know what you think.

Also, post some stuff.

The sign looks like it says "Hags". :P

I'd love to have those modular buildings and make some sort of massive city and than later destroy it, but they're a hundred dollars or so each, so even making 6 blocks would run you about $5400. (assuming you have blocks set up like this {set on the corner}{set in the middle}{Set on the corner}

Dang, looks like an actual Corner style set. Excellent job.

I may give this a shot.

@Paco: Lol, now I can't unsee it. Thanks.

@Keldoclock: Since I got the Grand Emporium a few months ago, I've been wanting to get three more, attach them all and take out the now-useless walls. Now that would be a grand emporium indeed.

@Ross: Thanks, I think CC is my new building phase, a pretty hard one to keep up too, due to the fact that all the buildings are pretty damn big.

Also, I have a house that I made out of Grand Emporium, but pictures will have to wait until I have access to a decent camera (possibly when my sis comes over for Saturnalia).

EDIT: Thanks Warhead, you damn ninja-poster.

10 points for Silverin!

Yeah, it's a moose head. It would have looked much better in brown, but since the walls are also brown it would look terrible.

Also, thanks Duckie. You might want to clean that up, though.

Well I worked on it over 3 days, but in total it was probably 16 hours? I'm not sure, I wish I had kept track of how long it took. I haven't actually worked on it since i posted it, so I don't have an update yet. I'm hoping to have it done by Saturnalia, since I'm getting some sort of Lego building (haven't found out which yet) for sure, meaning I'll be too busy fiddling with that to add anything for a while.

Also, I don't plan these things out at all. I only plan about 5 bricks ahead, the rest I make up as I go.

Well you've got to keep in mind I'm one person working in LDD, and the only time I devote to this is when I'm up until 3-5 in the morning, just cause.

Although I'm intrigued by your story, care to post a pic/instructions?
