I dabble in it. The next big project I'm going to tackle is going to be the opening sequence of Rockband 2, which has a sort of music video of Hello There by Cheap Trick. Link.

Any tips you guys have on making this? Should I try something easier first?

That sounds awesome, go for it. Not really that hard, there's no special effects like lasers or explosions or anything, should be reasonable.
