Determining size for non-bipedal vehicles

Post by Atomsk » Wed Apr 09, 2008 1:27 pm

So I'm putting together a stats spreadsheet for my armies, and everything is going along fine while I'm doing my Exo-Force mechs. Then I get to my tanks and jets. How do you measure the size of these units to accurately gauge it's Cost? Axel length? Also for flying units do you just measure the longest dimension, say the fuselage for most jets?

For tanks it's the longest dimension of the main body, ignoring treads and turret; for jets it's the longest dimension of the fuselage, ignoring wings.

Alright, thanks. Makes sense for units like the Mobile Defense Tank that have a huge footprint, but only because the treads are spaced out so far.

right. vehicle size is the longest size of a vehicle in inches, ignoring all weapons, movement devices, extra armor plating, and basically any other gee-gaw and gadget.

And that's why walkers can be really big but still almost nothing.

The problem with walkers is their disgustingly vulnerable leg joints. I'm finding wheeled or treaded vehicles to be much more efficient, though nowhere near as fun. I try to make up for it by doing awesome things with the mechs I do field, like pushing over mountains, picking up vehicles and throwing them off cliffs, or crushing minifigs.
